We are currently looking for hardworking people with a positive attitude who loves to work with a team and is excited to grow professionally. You'll need to have had some plant and or garden experience. Do you have a sunny disposition? Are you self-motivated and possess a genuine love for learning? This position offers you the opportunity to work with many types of plants, flowers, vegetables, and tropical foliage in our beautiful Flower Greenhouse environment. You must be dependable, punctual, a good listener and have the competence to follow thru with instructions.

JOB OVERVIEW

For our plants to look their best at all times, we need Individuals who have a genuine passion, and understanding for plant care. The Plant Caretakers are responsible for a variety of daily duties throughout the Flower Greenhouse. This position involves working with a team with similar daily goals. As a Plant Caretaker, your primary focus is watering flowers, vegetables, and other plants and being responsible for their daily upkeep for your assigned table/s. That means knowing when and how to water them properly. Other tasks will include assisting customers with plant questions, visual merchandising, unloading plants onto dollies or handcarts, and filling tables with flats of stunningly gorgeous flowers, vegetables and herbs. Signs and tags are also essential for our customers to better navigate the Flower House and to learn more about our plants when team members are busy. Plant and gardening knowledge is preferred, but training is also available for enthusiastic and hard-working individuals with a desire to learn more.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

— Demonstrate dependability and punctual attendance

— Quick learner, able to grasp training and tasks, take directions and confer with crew leader to clarify work

procedures

— Examines plants and soil to determine moisture level and waters plants according to the requirement of species

— Deadheading, pruning, shaping using hand tools

— Cleanliness; sweep or rake up the debris around flower tables

— Water plants using a nursery watering hose, wand, mister and/or watering can.

— Assist co-workers with unloading plant deliveries from trucks onto carriers, run trolleys, handcarts

— Provide excellent customer service

We are currently looking for talented individuals with a genuine passion for plants, articulate in communicating a love of plants and gardening to customers, experienced and novice gardeners alike.

The Sales Advisors at Mesquite Valley Growers Nursery are teachers as well as sales personnel. If we educate our customers and seek to understand their need, it is easy for a customer to make a decision about what plants they want to take home for their personal environment. This is a job that requires a high degree of knowledge about the plants that are used in Tucson landscapes, both native and adaptable plants as well as non-natives that can thrive with proper care.

We are committed to providing the highest level of customer service, demonstrating exceptional product, horticultural knowledge, and building strong customer relationships.

Previous Green Industry work experience is a must. This is a highly sought after position that must be tested into. You must be able to pass a written test with at least a 70% correct answers. Employees in these positions work solely with customers but there is some degree of lifting, loading and other physical work required for completing a transaction with a customer. Data Entry Clerk / Summary

To be successful in this role, you should be a great communicator who works well with others. Meet all goals and deadlines with the ability to multi-task, and calmly manage a shift of project priorities. The position requires the ability to touch-type alphanumeric data into databases with a high degree of accuracy.

You will need to love working with data, as you will spend upwards of half of your day working in your office on a computer. You will need to have a keen eye for detail in your work and take pride in accuracy. This job has a nice combination of desk work and standing-up work, all performed here at our beautiful nursery surroundings and supporting the Flower Greenhouse team. You will work with our POS and Gardenware software to process incoming requests for price tags and signage and help keep accurate office file records.
