Job Description

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Oversees and directs Eurofins CellTx Laboratory Supervisors
  • Directs the department supervisors in the day-to-day operation of the laboratory to insure smooth flow of samples and testing
  • Hires, coaches, reviews, manage, and terminate assigned staff
  • Oversees the department supervisors, to ensure scheduling of laboratory staff is sufficient to meet production schedules
  • Critically evaluates staff overtime reports to determine staff efficiency in conjunction with automation evaluation to plan for future growth
  • Counsel department supervisors regarding problems encountered in daily operations
  • Assist department supervisors in the checking and transfer of data as necessary and takes steps to correct possibly inaccurate data prior to continued processing or release
  • Directs the department supervisors to ensure that the orientation of new laboratory staff to their responsibilities and the function of the laboratory is appropriate and within the guidelines of department operating procedures
  • Oversees the implementation of new processes and instrumentation within the department
  • Conduct timely investigations in coordination with Quality Assurance related to site quality events, including, but not limited to customer complaints, inquiries, non-conformances, corrective actions, and audit findings.
  • Directs department supervisors to identify process improvements to better meet client expectations and company objectives
  • Recommends new technology/equipment for the laboratory
  • Critically reviews department metrics/quality indicators/statistics
  • Assists in the development of a budget and monitors laboratory expenditures
  • Oversees the department supervisors to ensure that the monitoring of inventory/ordering by establishing and maintaining par levels and re-stocking points for general laboratory supplies and reagents
  • Ensure personnel are sufficiently qualified with documented training and/or experience to supervise and perform the work of the laboratory. This function will be delegated to the Laboratory Supervisors as it pertains to technical staff
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies, administrative officials, and the medical community
  • Promote a safe laboratory environment for personnel and the public
  • Reports critical information to Laboratory Directors and Executive Team, as needed
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are established for monitoring staff to assess competency, and wherever necessary, to provide remedial training or continuing education to improve skills
  • Demonstrates passion and enthusiasm for the company’s vision, and motivates, leads, and empowers others to achieve company goals
  • Performs duties in compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies and cGMP expectations, including but not limited to: Facility and equipment maintenance, validation review and approval, training (internal, continuing education, proficiency testing, annual GMP, etc.)
  • Supports Eurofins CellTx’s business philosophy, leadership values and ethics

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science degree required
  • Ph.D. or Master of Science preferred

MINIMUM REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must meet CLIA requirements for a laboratory technologist in a high-complexity laboratory
  • Must meet minimum requirements for supervisor/technical supervisor for CLIA and all applicable state/regulatory agencies, including NY and CA

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years experience
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and techniques used in laboratory work
  • Considerable knowledge of the use of laboratory apparatus and equipment with the ability to aid in trouble shooting of technical problems
  • Excellent and effective written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional cross-functional team leadership skills and ability to work in close collaboration with others
  • Strong organizational and planning skills as well as strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, adapt to change and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions on complex issues, often in a cross-functional team setting
  • Strong skill in the Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of electronic publishing/file management
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local standards, regulations, guidelines and requirements effecting operations of a clinical reference laboratory

This laboratory carefully maintains all hazardous materials. All employees must abide by Eurofins CellTx’s Safety and Exposure procedures. This includes using the provided safety clothing and equipment.

Additional Information

Position is full time working M-F 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Tucson, AZare encouraged to apply.
