TITLE: Youth and Family Educator

HOURS: 40 hours per week, some evenings and weekends (as needed)

SUPERVISED BY: Program Coordinator

REGIONS: Rural Arizona (based in Marana)

RATE OF PAY: $14.50-15.00 / hourly (Non-exempt)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This position entails outreach and recruitment of youth and parents primarily in the rural communities of Pinal, Pima, Yuma, and La Paz Counties to participate in Sexual Risk Avoidance Education sessions/classes. The program to be presented is Choosing the Best and REAL Essentials. The Youth and Family Educator will be responsible for promoting AZYP programs in school settings, community centers, and various points of contact where youth and parents congregate. They will teach classes and secure locations, dates and times for classes. All sessions/classes will be taught in compliance with AZYP and funder policies and procedures.

Conduct outreach and recruitment to parents and youth throughout rural Arizona.

Promote AZYP programs in all community arenas.

Schedule arrangements for presentation of programs and prepare all appropriate materials.

Conduct parent/adult and youth sessions/classes.

Track participants to ensure goals are met.

Conduct follow-up visits or training as needed or requested.

Complete reports as required by the fund source and/or Program Supervisor.

Coordinate rural parent/adult training with team members.

Collaborate with other AZYP programs and community staff as needed.

Participate in AZYP agency activities.

Other duties as assigned/requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience working with youth in classroom/group settings.

Passion for the sexual risk avoidance message.

Knowledge of rural Arizona.

Knowledge of prevention field.

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Knowledge of Word, Windows, Excel and Desktop Publishing.

Prior experience teaching or leading classes/instruction.

Creative, flexible, team player and respectful of youth.

REQUIREMENTS

Ability/means to travel throughout rural counties

Overnight travel in rural counties, 1week trips (M-F) up to 4 trips throughout the year

Finger print and background clearance

CPR/First Aid certification

Participation in orientation and training as required by AZYP

AZ Drivers License and reliable transportation to travel across the regions

Automobile Insurance in the amount of $100,000/$300,000
