Job Description

Position: Facilities Specialist 3

Department: Facilities

Job Summary: Performs work related to construction, maintenance, and repair of the Gaming Enterprise Divisions (GED) buildings and facilities. This is the third in a series of three (3) classifications. Incumbents work at a high level of expertise, exercise judgment and independence in performance of duties, and will be assigned the responsibility to lead or instruct others.

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

1. Performs the duties of Facilities Specialist 1 and 2.

2. Performs routine and complex maintenance activities without supervision.

3. Oversees the maintenance of logs, records, preventive maintenance schedules, and other records.

4. Responds to after-hours emergency calls, as needed.

5. Prepares job cost estimates for major, complex projects.

6. Completes work orders with minimal or no direction and in cooperation with other team members, when necessary.

7. Provides on-the-job training for assigned crew members in skills requirements of specific job tasks and compliance with regulations i.e.; electrical, plumbing, sheetrock, painting and masonry.

8. Enforces health and safety standards rigorously; ensures work related injuries or incidents are reported to supervisor and Security but also ensures accurate and timely records are maintained for purposes of assessing training needs and taking corrective action.

9. Ensures that an inventory of equipment is maintained to be able to respond to work requests in a timely manner.

10. Consults with supervisor on status of current and future projects.

11. Confers with department head to review achievements and discuss needed changes in goals or objectives resulting from current or projected future status or conditions.

12. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless guest service.

13. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of equipment, products, techniques and standards used for construction, maintenance, and repair of facilities to include electrical, plumbing, sheetrock, painting and masonry.

1. Knowledge of standard hand and power tools and equipment used in the trades.

2. Knowledge of chemicals used in the trades

3. Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions.

4. Knowledge of safety standards and precautions pertaining to the trades.

5. Knowledge of all relevant laws, regulations, and codes.

6. Proficiency in soldering, brazing, welding, electrical and plumbing.

7. Skilled in the care and use of hand tools and equipment necessary to perform tasks.

8. Skilled in locating and adjusting defects in systems and equipment.

9. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing and spreadsheets.

10. Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.

11. Skill in working courteously with the public as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships.

12. Ability to soft solder and silver solder.

13. Ability to work with minimal or no supervision.

14. Ability to effectively communicate as well as understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.

15. Ability to work cooperatively with team members and guests.

16. Ability to exercise independent judgment and be fiscally prudent in choosing materials, tools, and procedures in finishing assigned tasks.

17. Ability to estimate labor or material costs from blueprints or work plans.

18. Ability to observe, monitor, or compare data to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards.

19. Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe, efficient manner.

20. Ability to perform mathematical and geometric computations pertaining to the position.

21. Ability to measure distances with a tape measure or other measuring device.

22. Ability to use graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids as well as interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

23. Ability to make decisions based on information received from team members or guests.

24. Ability to distinguish between the full ranges of colors in the color spectrum to work with electrical wires.

25. Ability to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.

26. Ability to lift, carry, and climb ladders to reach work areas as well as push and pull scaffolds when required to complete the job task.

27. Ability to work at heights greater than ten feet.

28. Ability to remain in a standing position for extended periods of time.

29. Ability to lift arms above shoulder level to work in ceiling areas or on light fixtures.

30. Ability to work in small, cramped areas such as ceiling crawl spaces, equipment enclosures, and closets.

31. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.

32. Ability to travel across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.

33. Ability to independently push, pull, and turn a tool cart (maximum weight up to 300 pounds) and wear fitted tool belt (maximum weight up to 20 pounds), with or without a reasonable accommodation.

34. Ability to move heavy objects (50 pounds or more) long distances (more than 20 feet).

35. Ability to read blueprints as well as interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

36. Ability to bend, squat, kneel, push, pull, and walk 100% of job time.

37. Ability to work in a smoking environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Seven (7) years experience in building maintenance, commercial building trade, or facilities maintenance/engineering, to include electrical, plumbing, sheetrock, painting and masonry, including six (6) months lead or supervisory experience OR any combination of education and experience. Must successfully pass a written exercise.

2. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing and spreadsheets.

3. Must have a valid Arizona Drivers License.

4. Must be able to move heavy objects (50 pounds or more) long distances (more than 20 feet), with or without a reasonable accommodation.

5. Must be able to independently push, pull, and turn a tool cart (maximum weight up to 300 pounds), lift and carry ladders, push and pull scaffolds, and wear fitted tool belt (maximum weight up to 20 pounds), with or without a reasonable accommodation.

6. Demonstrated track record of reliability, responsiveness, and creativity,

7. Demonstrated track record of providing excellent guest service.

8. Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed.

9. Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.

10. Must be able to obtain, maintain a valid gaming license.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. High school or General Equivalency Diploma.

2. Bilingual (English/Spanish).

3. Journeymen Electrician

4. Journeymen Plumber
