Title: DBA Manager Location: Agoura Hills, CA Duration: 6+ months (Potential Contract to Hire)
Overview: Enhanced and enforces Database Administration best practices, standards, policies, methods, tools and procedures. Focus is on the proficient delivery of Database Administration services while leading the Database Administration team's use of tools, techniques and processes. Works with senior Business and IT partners to identify, prioritize Database Administration standards, policies, methods, and procedures building consensus with all parties. Will not consider candidates without AWS specifically called out on the resume.
Responsibilities:
Establish, and maintain Database Administration best practices, standards, policies, methods tools and procedures
Manage, mentor, and build DBA team with adherence Database Administration best practices, standards, policies, methods tools and procedures
Manage relationship with Infrastructure, Info Sec, Compliance, Audit, and Business leadership
Active capacity planning and performance tuning procedures to ensure all database environments are running optimally for Physical and/or Virtual environments.
Work with Business & IT owners on data archival
Work as part of a team and provide 724 supports when required
Instrumental in providing guidance to subordinates in best architectural practices in maximizing the database performance.
Troubleshoots the difficult database problems, recognized expert and go-to person.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications:
Experience running databases on AWS' Relational Database Service known as RDS or Aurora. If they have not operated in AWS, we do not want to interview them. This is in addition to either strong MS SQL experience or strong Postgres experience.
Ability to create/give presentations to project teams/groups.
Experience in utilizing DBMS systems management tools and implementing new features and functionality preferred.
Good understanding of business operations.
System/process documentation experience.
Strong tactical planning, organizational, analytical and PC skills required.
Experience in scripting languages such as perl, python, or PowerShell
Ability to perform DBA tasks including backups, setting up access policy, data migrations, ETL operations, troubleshooting, data partitioning, replication, clustering, mirroring, and performance optimization
Programming experience with emphasis on designing complex SQL queries and business components
Experience in the physical and logical design of database architecture and exposure to building dimensional data models
Excellent written and verbal communication ability
Certification or equivalent work experience
Experience with SOX audit
Must be highly proficient in Excel and Word
Must be a team player with strong attention to detail and able to work independently
Proven track record at delivering timely and accurate information in a fast-paced environment
Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical skills and sound judgment
Financial Services and, if possible, mortgage industry experience preferred
Strong business acumen and ability to interface with executive management
