Software Engineers design and develop custom software, systems, and integrations. Software engineers work with a team of fellow software engineers, QA engineers, and business systems analysts in an agile/scrum process to deliver enhanced product value. Engineers primarily work in PHP/Symfony + ReactJS, but there may be opportunity or requirement to work with other languages or tools as needed. In addition to writing code, the successful candidate will design technical solutions with IT operations teams, participate in scrum ceremonies, and work with stakeholders to understand workflows and requests. As level 2 engineers, candidates are expected to complete tasks assigned to them, but are also expected to utilize critical thinking to identify design issues and propose technical or functional enhancements.
Job Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom software according to ticket specifications
• Participate in code review sessions with other developers and leads
• Participate in scrum ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and daily standups
• Evaluate complexity of proposed solutions, in terms of effort needed as well as impacts to other projects
• Meet with clients, partners, product owners, or other stakeholders to understand and clarify workflows and requirements
• Highlight blockers or issues arising during development to resolve in a timely manner
• Monitor process and log information, troubleshooting issues as needed

• Must have solid experience coding in object-oriented PHP, prefer exp. with PHP 7+
• Must have experience coding in MVC frameworks
  • Symfony is preferred; Laravel, Flask, Spring, etc. are acceptable substitutes
• Experience with frontend web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Strongly recommend experience with frontend frameworks like ReactJS
• Good understanding of relational databases, ex: MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MSSQL
  • Must be able to confidently write and optimize complex queries involving multiple tables
• Experience with using non-relational databases, ex: MongoDB
• Ability to effectively use version control, including ability to branch and merge in git
• Ability to programmatically read and write a variety of structured and unstructured formats, such as JSON, CSV, and XML
• Experience with production and consumption of web services (ex: REST, SOAP, AMQP)
• Basic understanding and usage of Docker containers
• Competency in translating functional requirements into technical requirements, highlighting complexity and problematic areas
• Ability to logically troubleshoot issues as they arise
• Experience with and/or certifications in AWS or other cloud technologies is a plus
• Be available to work outside of normal business hours to coordinate with people in global time zones
