The Senior IT Analyst will serve as a business partner and application expert in delivering technology and providing operational support for Avanir’s related business applications and business functions. Primary job duties will include collecting, documenting and analyzing technical/ requirements; identifying, implementing and qualifying technology solutions; supporting effective application lifecycle management, executing change controls and operationally maintaining business applications. The position will be primarily responsible for business application management for the assigned Avanir’s business functions include but not limited to R&D, Commercial, HR, Finance, Supply Chain, Sales & Marketing area, etc., while also supporting technologies across Avanir’s Information Systems, as necessary. Successful candidates are expected to have technical expertise, knowledge and hands-on experience supporting IT capabilities and applications for the R&D, Commercial, and/or G&A divisions of companies within the pharmaceutical, biotech or medical devices industries. In addition, the candidate will have demonstrated experience working with cross-functional services groups, including IT, Quality Assurance and Project Management to ensure successful business alignment, application integration, solution delivery, technology architecture, GxP compliance, application maintenance & operational support, and IT security that meet or exceed the quality standards and compliance requirements expected within the pharmaceutical industry.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Provide IT expertise to support the delivery and operation of technology solutions for the Finance and Human Resources business functions. Primary focus will be setting up and maintaining business applications for Financial Planning, Accounting, Procurement, and Market Analytics functions, as well as Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Human Resources, Benefits and Corporate Communications functions.
  • Contribute to user requirements specification, design specification, system and business configuration, system build, validation plan and report, test script development and execution, technical manuals, user training, system release to production and transition to operation. Qualified candidates will demonstrate strong hands-on experience and technical expertise in the following areas:
    • Requirements: Participate in project initiation process. Understand business process modeling techniques; Develop concept/domain model, process flow and data flow diagrams; Collect and document business needs, use cases and requirements. Develop User Requirements Specification.
    • Solutioning: Participate in the identification and recommendation of appropriate solution options by researching potential technology vendors/software, defining objective assessment criteria and executing the evaluation process. Contribute to the creation of solution/configuration documentation, conduct analysis of data, and create appropriate data models.
    • Implementation: Partner in and potentially lead the delivery of technology solutions per business requirements. Coordinate resolution of technical issues and ensure application meets the intended use, with quality and efficiency.
    • Testing: Have a solid understanding of risk-based testing and the ability to lead effective testing cycles. Participate in risk and impact analysis of new applications or components to business processes/operations, and changes to existing applications or components according to Avanir policies & procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
    • Release: Create technical manuals, training materials, provide user trainings. Transfer knowledge and transition system to operation team and transition. Support both application upgrades and study build. Prepare Release memo and communication.
    • Operations/Maintenance: Work with internal & external groups to manage/execute the overall systems maintenance and operational support. Act as a hands-on lead to execute and (as needed) coordinate remediation effort, engaging appropriate stakeholders, users and vendor staff (if applicable) to manage application maintenance needs, product releases, service requests, incidents, problems, and change controls.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, project managers, and stakeholders.

Education/ Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering or related scientific, technical or business field.
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in an Information Technology role supporting Financial and/or Human Resources related applications, preferably in the pharmaceutical/biotech/medical devices industry.

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service focus and perspective. Must be well organized, flexible, and responsive with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must demonstrate curiosity and learning agility, with a willingness to take on new challenges and learn new skills/applications.
  • Experience supporting Finance systems (ERP, Financial Planning/Analysis, Contracting, Procurement, etc.) and/or Human Resources systems (ADP/Workday, Learning Management, Background screening, Talent Management) is preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis, metrics generation and performance dashboarding concepts, tools and software is preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).

Physical Requirements:
This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and frequent walking. Daily use of a computer, phone, office equipment and other computing and digital devices is required. May be required to stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities. Some local travel may be necessary, so the ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Driver’s license and/or effectively navigate public transportation is required. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee must be able to read and respond to interoffice communications as well as effectively participate in meetings. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to lift up to 20 lbs., pull, push, carry, handle or feel. The employee is required to carry, handle items, reach with arms and hands, to stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. Mental demands may require prolonged concentration, reading comprehension, understanding and interpretation of concepts, ideas and philosophies.
