Job Description

The Systems and Software Lead reports to the VP of Engineering and is responsible for leading a team of engineers focusing on system & software engineering. This individual will oversee electrical and software aspects of the design and integration of electric vehicle systems as well as develop next generation technologies.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Define automotive software structure and lead supervisory control development and calibration.
  • Guide development to meet functional safety requirements such as ISO 26262 to fulfill safety goals.
  • Supervise vehicle electrical integration design
  • Lead system-level DFMEA
  • System requirement definition and verification methods
  • Develop strategies for testing and validation at all levels from SIL, HIL to vehicle level.
  • Innovate and develop new processes and tools to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Organize regular design review meetings for software and electrical engineering.
  • Establish vision and plan for control unit, energy storage system, drive unit, power electronics and connectivity strategies beyond existing product line.
  • Research emerging technologies in powertrain, control and power electronics, and relate to industry trends
  • Benchmark suppliers and develop a good relationship with Phoenix Motorcars
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to confirm and review the specifications, interfaces and requirements
  • Develop and manage all documentations of the requirements, design and validation report

Qualifications

  • BS or higher in Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experiences with EV system specification and development
  • 3+ years’ experience with system engineering
  • Experience in team recruitment and leadership
  • Experience with requirement management tools (Polarion, DOORS, JAMA, etc)
  • Knowledge in high voltage energy storage and its management system
  • Proven track record of developing automotive controls systems requirements and the validation
  • Good understanding of automotive controls systems and features
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skill

Preferred Skills & Experiences

  • Expertise in Automotive V-cycle development process and lifecycle development
  • Understanding of automotive certification and homologation requirements
  • Experience with Vehicle interface tools (ie CANalyzer, CANape, MotoTune)
  • Proficient skills in Matlab/Simulink
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming
