General Purpose

This position is responsible for ongoing analysis of health care information, including patient care, financial, and demographic data. The Data Analyst IV position is one of the primary interfaces for robust and complex data reporting, analysis, data integrity, and report design and delivery for Kern Health Systems (KHS). A Data Analyst IV should also have strong and developed problem solving skills and abilities in a mentoring capacity. This position requires expert level development experience in database schemas and table definition of an RDBMS. The incumbent will provide professional skills and mentoring in the most complex report writing and presentation. The Data Analyst IV is a demonstrated expert in the use of the structured query language (SQL), and end user reporting and data presentation.

It requires the use and implementation of analytical tools (SQL, Business Objects, Excel, SAS), extensive experience and knowledge of various data analysis methodologies, definition of presentation software, strong communication skills and a strong commitment to and affinity for delivering the highest level of customer service.

Perform extremely complex data analytics in support of ad-hoc and planned customer requests. Works with customers to develop and understand analysis and report specifications. The Data Analyst IV delivers the organizations most difficult and extensive data products in report, presentation format, or verbally, to customer specifications and timelines with thoughtful and accurate analysis of data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Highly organized individual that is willing to accept responsibility, shows good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness, and is able to mentor a team of analysts as well as complete the necessary work independently.
  • Address proposed research questions that are used to provide the business with accurate information in order to make operational business decisions.
  • Develop and manage technical data projects, methodologies, and data collections for analyzing and presenting data in a well-organized, documented, and verifiable manner.
  • Perform complex data analysis in support of ad-hoc and planned customer requests to deliver sophisticated analysis products, accurate and appropriate interpretation of data and develop useful and insightful information from a variety of data sources.
  • Able to compare datastatisticallyand provide appropriate conclusions from the analysis that can provide actionable items for the business.
  • Mastery of analytical tools (SAS, Excel, etc.), knowledge of data analysis methodology, use of presentation software, strong communication skills and a strong commitment to delivering accurate and verifiable results.
  • Ability to analyze health care data from conceptualization through presentation of data.
  • Develop and prepare of information products for associated staff and members.
  • Responsible for ongoing analysis of health care information, obtained from a variety of sources, including patient care, financial, and demographic data.
  • The data analyst evaluates risk; culling statistical information to determine whether a company is operating in a productive manner.
  • Technical mentor for the Governed Reporting System (GRS) team to create information rich reports utilizing the KHS operation data store or data warehouse and statistical analyses.
  • Works directly with internal business partners and management for data collection, data analysis, methodology, and documentation.
  • Instruct business and technical teams in creating formulas, calculations, and graphs in Microsoft Excel.
  • RDBMS Complete knowledge of the techniques used in relational Database Management Systems.
  • SQL - mastering of the SQL language and techniques. Competent using SQL to create statistically valid samples and metrics analytical data mining.
  • Data Mining - with data mining and data analysis techniques in healthcare data, and the ability to identify problems, develop logical conclusions, and provide effective solutions.
  • Report Generation Effectively work with end users to identify reporting requirements and developing presentations.
  • Administration/Organization Technical lead KHS Governed Reporting System team that will provide leadership and organization practices to ensure the highest quality results.
  • Statistical Analysis - Understanding of providing statistical analysis, verification of sample sizes required to develop a statistically valid model. Correct uses of sampling tests, statistical analysis tests and metrics.
  • Provide compliance reporting for the State of California.
  • Works with business leads in review of new concepts and ideas, project implementation, and problem resolution.
  • Develop extract, load, and translate (ETL) processes and database population.
  • Create and maintain documentation for the Business Development team, reporting, methodologies, and other areas as needed.
  • Establish correct team methodology for the development of statistical analysis.
  • Work and communicate effectively with the various professionals throughout the organization.
  • Resolves elevated help desk incidents, change management requests, or problem tickets as assigned.
Employment Standards

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field from an accredited institution or equivalent and six (6) years progressive experience in report writing and reporting analytics for a medium to large health care organization.

OR

Ten (10) years of experience as an Analyst with KHS or similar organization with an emphasis on business analytics. Education may be substituted with report writing or analytical work experience on a year for year basis, and will be reviewed individually.

The Data Analyst IV position is suited for the mid-career to advanced career person. A mathematical background with experience in developing statistical models is needed.

A solid understanding of managed care and the benefits of a centralized standard reporting team for an organization is required.

Other:Possession of valid California Drivers License and proof of valid State required auto liability insurance.Required Travel Up to 10%.
