About the Role:
Under the indirect supervision of the Director, Human Resources (HR), the Manager, Human Resources will play a key role in driving solutions that meet the company’s diverse needs. They will be the main HR point of contact for headquarters corporate staff and they will manage a staff of three HR Business Partners. While simultaneously managing day-to-day HR activities, they will develop corporate policies and solutions, and will proactively work with the Director, Human Resources and the Manager, Learning & Development on projects. They will formulate partnerships across the HR/People organization and other business functions to deliver value-added services to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization.
This role requires an effective level of business literacy with the ability to understand and apply this knowledge as it relates to the company’s strategy and budgetary plans, company culture, and its manufacturing and agriculture processes and teams. You will be in a position where you will be working on new processes, and at times, developing and implementing them from the start. Because we are building the bus while we drive it, there will be moments you will be left with little instruction and you will be expected to find answers and develop proposed roadmaps for the best way forward. The Manager, HR will have excellent organizational, technical, and communication skills with the ability to handle a multitude of assignments, simultaneously in a fast pace environment. Close attention to detail and production of thorough documentation is a must.
Past experience in Human Resources in California (or state with similar employment laws, ex: Oregon) is required. Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
What You'll Do

  • Maintain professionalism and live the company’s core values of TIIP: Teamwork, Integrity, Innovation, and Process at all times
  • Manage all general human resources activities across a growing and diverse company: including employee relation needs and events, benefits management, recruiting & onboarding, terminations, leaves of absences
  • Provide general supervision to Human Resources Business Partners (3 direct reports) and ensure consistency, compliance, professionalism, and teamwork
  • Will conduct HRBP duties for all headquarters corporate staff (including employee relations, recruiting and onboarding, benefits administration, terminations, leaves of absences, performance reviews, and facilitate other people needs as they arise)
  • Manage HRBP’s priorities to achieve HR MBOs on an on-going basis
  • Manage corporate health insurance throughout the year and at Open Enrollment, maintaining benefit related SPD and legal requirements (ex: ERISA)
  • Will work closely with Payroll and Benefits Specialist on benefit reconciliation, monthly
  • Will work closely with the Manager, Learning & Development to ensure trainings and performance reviews take place throughout the organization
  • Manage HR electronic filing, personnel files, and I9s
  • Analyze trends and metrics in regular HR reporting to develop solutions, programs, and policies
  • Maintains HR portion of the company’s intranet site
  • Develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support, achieve results, and build credibility
  • Be flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels
  • Ensures accuracy across systems (ATS, HRIS, Google Forms) and provides reports to HR team, management and other departments as requested
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention
  • Take initiative to identify and anticipate business/employee needs and make recommendations for implementation
  • Maintains government required adherence to and reporting, including: FMLA/CFRA/PDL, EEOC, Medicare Notices, etc.
  • All other projects and tasks as required
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or inherent to the position
What You'll Need to Have
Required:
  • Experience building and refining processes, as the company grows
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Communication Studies, or similar field is required
  • 5 - 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience required
  • Current HR Certification required (HRCI or SHRM)
  • California Human Resources experience (or state with similar employment laws, ex: Oregon), required
  • Additional HR experience in AZ and fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required
  • Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Ability to listen well, comprehend and analyze situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships within all areas of the company
  • Experience with labor relations, employee relations and engagement, benefits administration, policy creation and administration
  • Excellent client management and business literacy skills
  • Strong conflict management skills, strong interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency of the English language, verbal and written format
  • Past experience with ATS (applicant tracking systems), iCIMS or JobVite preferred
  • Critical thinking and the confidence to ask questions and propose other options is critical to one’s success in this position
  • HRIS experience strongly preferred
  • High degree of adaptability and resourcefulness
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office and/or Google’s G suite
  • Must be 21 years of age (or older) at the time of hire
  • Able to work independently and takes initiative to identify opportunities to help the team and to identify process improvements.
  • Possesses the organizational skills and sense of urgency to manage a high volume of work amidst priority changes and disruptions
  • Performs detail-oriented work with a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality for sensitive Human Resources issues and projects
  • Intermediate to advanced level experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office and/or Google’s G suite
  • Functional knowledge of California cannabis regulations
  • Must be 21 years of age (or older) at the time of hire
  • Proficiency of the English language, verbal and written format
