Job SummaryDisney Streaming seeks an enthusiastic and experienced Director, Product Management to lead the Media Pipelines and Tools team. This role exists within the Supply Chain and Content domain of the rapidly growing Media Product team and reports to the Sr. Director, Product Management. Supply Chain and Content exists to deliver reliable and scalable services, workflows, and operational tools for VOD and Live media pipelines, content management, and catalog syndication.The Media Pipelines and Tools team is responsible for the services, workflows, and tools that enable VOD and Live playable media components to be acquired, operationally processed, published, and maintained. These pipelines feed into the underlying platform that powers Hulu, Disney+, Star+, and ESPN+ and support a wide array of packaging formats, media types, and content shapes. This team defines our media ingestion specifications and the tools that facilitate the Live and VOD content QC and publishing process used by our operators and content partners alike.As the Director, Product Management for Media Pipelines and Tools, you will be responsible for managing a team of product managers that each represent functional areas of the media supply chain. You will develop a vision, tenets, and goals based on an informed perspective and input from the team and chart the course to take Disney Streaming’s supply chain capabilities to infinity – and beyond. Through collaboration with stakeholders in operations, engineering, and within the team, you will build the product roadmap, factoring in business objectives and data to properly prioritize efforts against stated goals. You will work closely with the Sr. Director and other leads across Supply Chain and Content, Media Product, and DMED Technology in addition to engineering teams in New York, California, and China. You will be highly aligned to our stakeholders in operations in order to understand their needs and evaluate opportunities. Additionally, you will dig in yourself to frame and deliver on large initiatives and/or to provide additional coverage to the team as necessary.The ideal candidate is analytical, resourceful, fanatical about leading, and also has an ability to work independently under time constraints to meet deadlines. You are able to find patterns among disparate requests and turn them into a cohesive vision to enhance our platform and supply chain. You are a champion for operations and geek out over supply chain frameworks that will reduce friction in our media pipeline. You will have a proven track record in taking on end-to-end ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and constantly changing business environment. You are a respected thought leader in your space and your opinions are sought by others for consultation. The ideal candidate makes data-driven decisions, prioritizes customer needs, forms strong yet loosely held opinions, and can build trust with all areas of the business. We value passionate product leadership that drives with discipline and attention to detail.Responsibilities● Lead a team that effectively collaborates with engineering teams to translate business objectives into actionable product requirements and user stories using an Agile product development process.● Set high-level priorities for the team as informed by business strategy and quantifiable justification and translate into product roadmap.● Coach and mentor product managers within the team.● Refine team structure and resourcing to maximize success.● Take a data driven approach to constantly improve our media pipelines - devise instrumentation, KPIs, and reporting frameworks and processes to convey to neighbors and stakeholders, as appropriate to each● Define requirements for and enhance pipeline functionality for live and linear media acquisition and operations.● Identify new opportunities that align with and support overarching business priorities of Disney Streaming and TWDC.● Partner with Disney’s DMED Technology and Walt Disney Studios Technology teams on advancing our digital supply chain in ways that benefit our creators.● Maintain strategic insight into the latest industry trends and working groups for the media supply chain.Basic Qualifications● Bachelors Degree10+ years experience across product management, operations, technology, or program management within video streaming, media or related industries.● 5+ years of experience in team management including experience managing managers.● Deep knowledge of the media content delivery process (playable components, metadata, images) from first-hand experience supporting those workflows.● Understanding of VOD and Live media supply chain frameworks and standards (MDDF, CableLabs, SCTE-224).● Strong leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize well and communicate clearly across all levels of the organization with a proven ability to influence and engage senior executives● Demonstrated success leading a team in achieving ambitious short, medium and long-term goals● Demonstrated ability to work bidirectionally with engineering teams to discuss technical concepts, make tradeoffs to remove roadblocks, and evaluate new ideas.● Demonstrated ability to collect and use data to back up assumptions and recommendations and drive decisions● Demonstrated success building and executing product roadmaps aligned with business requirements and technology capabilities in global businesses● Passion for making customers happy, with strong opinions about excellent customer experience.● Excellent written and oral communication and storytelling skills.● Scrappiness and resourcefulness with no fear of getting your hands dirty and an impulse to be the first to tackle any challenge.Preferred Qualifications● 5+ years dedicated Product Management experience● Familiarity with live sports and or linear channel based programming.● Understanding of playable media component formats and types (IMF, ProRes, Atmos, Dolby Vision, W3C TTML, MPEG Transport and Program streams, MXF).● Video encoding and packaging product management or hands-on operations experienceLocation: Burbank,CaliforniaJob Posting Company:The Walt Disney Company and its Affiliated Companies are Equal Employment Opportunity employers and welcome all job seekers including individuals with disabilities and veterans with disabilities.
