RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Carlsbad, CA.


Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer Disposables develops NPI and manufacturing processes, works with designs, prototypes, and analyzes medical devices, and equipment. The Engineer researches and recommends manufacturing processes used in the production of medical devices such as catheter shafts, components and sub-assemblies and conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified manufacturing processes. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop manufacturing processes and select appropriate equipment required
Responsible for research and development of new components, assemblies, and processes as needed
Generates test protocols, performs tests, and generates reports for manufacturing processes selected
Responsible for a full lifecycle of a product as a Mechanical Engineer including documentation and initiating drawings and specifications for piece parts and assemblies
Reviews documentation generated by others relating to product responsibilities and issues change orders as needed
Leads and participates in design reviews
Verifies all final design documentation, parts lists, and drawings to insure completeness and accuracy
Responsible for compliance with quality system procedures and all regulatory requirements
Works independently, but contribution's impact the overall team's objectives
Influences some of the overall project goals
Creates innovative and creative solutions to keep projects on-track and to determine the best practice for new assignments
Pays particular attention to existing resources and makes recommendations for efficiencies

REQUIREMENTS:
Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of related experience and a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in a scientific/engineering discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Working experience with Solidworks is highly desired
Experience with disposable medical device assembly processing, rapid prototyping
In depth understanding of Design Controls, Verification, Validation and Design Transfer
Knowledge of sterilization processing
Basic understanding of Ultrasound technology preferred
Experience in braiding, extrusion, tipping and porting highly desired
Consistently demonstrates technical proficiency and developing innovative solutions
Anticipates and provides solutions for obstacles and challenges
Regularly collaborates with others in suggesting valuable solutions
