The Nevada County Superintendent of Schools is now recruiting for a full-time Payroll Analyst in our Business Services Department.

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Chief Business Official, coordinates the activities of payroll processing, retirement and tax reporting, benefit administration and employee leave tracking. Provides training and guidance to all County, District and Charter School payroll department personnel. Performs complex professional and technical duties, including but not limited to, directing staff, auditing payroll, compiling and reporting retirement and tax obligations and preparation of specialized reports. The position requires a comprehensive knowledge of payroll, tax and financial principles to exercise independent judgment to assist with and resolve complex payroll related problems.

REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of training and experience, which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities, may be qualifying.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration or a related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.

- At least two (2) years responsible work experience in financial record-keeping and payroll activities. Public school payroll experience desirable.

COMPENSATION:

- Starting salary: Step 1 ($28.48) - Step 3 ($31.33) per hour for initial placement, depending on experience (with a top step, step 5 of $34.49).
