The Associated Students of California State University, Chico is recruiting for Teacher at the Child Development Lab. This is a full-time, academic year (10 months), non-exempt position. The pay rate begins at $16.44/hr; new hires typically start at the beginning of the range. The anticipated schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 9:15am to 5:450pm with an hour meal period. A mandatory one-hour all staff meeting is held each Monday from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. This schedule is subject to change based on operational needs.

TEACHER , CHILD DEVELOPMENT LAB
SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Head Teacher, establish and maintain a developmentally appropriate environment and curriculum which provides for the optimum development of young children. Establish positive reciprocal relationships with families; work collaboratively with other staff members in promoting a positive work environment; supervise and coach student staff and practicum students.
TYPICAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and implement evidence-based curriculum and programming in accordance with the Child Development Lab mission and goals.
Function as a collaborative team-teacher providing instruction, supervision and coaching to student teachers and volunteers.
Write anecdotal notes that document childrens learning and development across domains.
Collaboratively reflect on written observations of children and facilitate the process of planning weekly outcomes for childrens development and learning.
Organize a systematic approach of observation and assessment of children.
Assist the Head Teacher in the supervision, training, and evaluation of student staff modeling appropriate early childhood practices and teaching techniques.
Participate in professional development opportunities as assigned.
Assume authority when assigned to accept licensing evaluations and implement emergency procedures in the absence of the Head Teacher and the Child Development Lab Director.
Communicate Child Development Lab philosophy and program policy with families, student teachers and volunteers.
Provide input and feedback concerning competencies and abilities of student teachers and practicum students.
Assist in facilitating family programs, events and community outreach.
Conduct daily programming.
Assist in identifying and supporting children or families with special needs, providing information about community resources plan, schedule and conduct family conferences.
Share information and observations regarding children's daily activities, progress, and development with families identify and report suspected child abuse and neglect to appropriate authorities.
Perform a variety of assignments related to the planning, implementation, and conduct of programs.
Other duties may be assigned.

Experience:
Required: One (1) year full-time or two (2) years part-time equivalent experience related to classroom management, child supervision and curriculum planning and implementation in an early care and education classroom or related field serving children under the age of five (5). One year experience as a part-time teacher at the Child Development Lab (averaging 29 hours per week during the academic year) is acceptable.
Preferred: Two (2) years or more experience related to classroom management, child supervision and curriculum planning and implementation in an early care and education in a classroom or other related field serving children under the age of five (5) and experience in a role with adult supervision responsibilities.
Education:
Required: Completion of 24 college units in child development, psychology, or early childhood education and 16 units of general education required for the Child Development Instructional Permit.
Required: 3 units in infant/toddler development and willingness to complete 3 additional infant/toddler units within the first year of employment.
Preferred: Bachelors of Arts in Child Development or related field with 12 units ECE/CD, plus three units supervised field experience in an ECE/CD setting. A masters degree in Child Development or related field can substitute for one (1) year experience. Knowledge of or training in the Program for I/T Care (PITC).
Special Requirements:
Child Development Instructional Site Supervisor Permit, or transcripts plus qualifying experience as required to obtain the Site Supervisor permit (must apply when hired).
Possession of CPR and First Aid Certificates or willingness to complete upon offer of employment.
Tuberculosis, MMR and Tdap clearance.
Pre-employment physical.
Department of Justice and FBI background clearance or have a successful transfer of licensing exemption and a successful licensing record.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current Associated Students employees who apply for the position.
