We are a growing and incredibly busy specialty billing department providing support to our multiple private clinics in Northern California. Our billing team is based in Chico, and we are in need of a full time, experienced medical biller.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Responsibilities:
Personal-
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language; Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail; team-oriented, collaborative; ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks with accuracy in an efficient manner.
Communication-
Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents from multiple types of entities. Ability to respond effectively to time sensitive inquiries or requests from payers. Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively and respectfully to colleagues, patients, subcontractors, and insurance representatives.
Math and Reasoning-
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to use critical thinking skills to apply principles of logic and analytical thinking to practical problems.
Experience Requirements-
At least one year of prior medical billing experience (experience in ophthalmology/optometry is preferred, but not required)
Experience in successfully working AR to meet company standards
Must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills with great attention to detail
Proficient in ICD 10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
Well versed in rules of NCCI edits, and surgical modifiers, respectively
Primary responsibilities will include:
Manual line item charge and payment posting
Verification of automated payment postings to ensure accuracy
Insurance verification and authorizations
Electronic and [occasional] paper claim submissions
Monitoring and pursuing past due insurance payments
Misc. tasks as assigned
