Jesus Center, a dynamic high impact Chico based nonprofit, has a position open for a part-time (24 hrs/wk) Resource Specialist. The Resource Specialist will coordinate the services of the Resource Center, connecting guests with services in the community and at the Center, while also supporting the work of the Director of Services. The position requires social work experience and a genuine desire to work with those experiencing homelessness. Candidates must be strong communicators, excellent problem solvers, self-starters, compassionate, and committed to the mission and values of the Jesus Center. Computer skills including Word, Excel, Google Drive are a must.

Build a strategy to expand use of and usefulness of the Resource Center for our guests and the other service providers in the area
Reach out to and maintain relationships with other area agencies to increase their involvement in the Resource Center
Support all activities of the Director of Services as required such as administrative tasks for the housing program, vendor and telephone correspondence
Programs and Services
Maintain a professional atmosphere at the Resource Center
Focus on individuals and assess what they need in a creative way
Direct individuals to services that keep them moving forward
Oversee Mail distribution for clients and JC administration
Maintain proper systems, folders, access to services and referrals
Ensure proper usage of Resource Center facilities and equipment: build appropriate systems and policies/procedures
Maintain regular client communication through video, personal invitations, and appropriate signage
Personnel
Oversee and train all volunteer receptionists
Oversee and train (with Director of Services) volunteer case workers
Work with/collaborate with interns and other types of volunteers/employees
Administration
Provide general administrative help to Jesus Center employees as directed by supervisor or executive team
Create posters and flyers for activities at the Center
Assist, create, and/or maintain files necessary for housing program
Specifics
DMV voucher referrals | create system | maintain records
Clothing voucher referrals | create system | maintain records
Eyeglass voucher referrals | communicate with doctors office | maintain records
Work with other agencies to schedule them for Outreach in the Center
Ensure daily mail distribution is completed and correctly done
Answer all calls on general voice mail
Attend training for HMIS & Coordinated Entry
Manage the receptionist desk to ensure professionalism is learned and maintained by all volunteers, guests, or any other persons helping at the desk
