Boeing Enterprise Quality has an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Senior Manager to join our quality team in Tukwila, WA; Saint Louis, MO; Mesa, AZ or Ridley Park, PA and lead the adoption of APQP across all of Boeing.

Position Responsibilities:

The candidate will lead development & application of AS9145 / Advanced Product Quality Planning across all of Boeing in collaboration with business unit teams.

  • Lead a core team of APQP experts developing tools, training, standards & processes and providing expertise to tackle demanding challenges using APQP on new developments and sustaining projects.
  • Develop, maintain & report on key Enterprise APQP Performance Indicators.
  • Use leading indicators/KPIs/metrics and other analytic tools to identify risks/opportunities and to help sustain gains and educate people on defect-free work
  • Work with business unit partners to transition Boeing to using APQP as standard work.
  • Develops quality strategies and plans in support of new business acquisition and execution of program/business plans.
  • Provides education and coaching on the Quality System.
  • Oversees review of technical information to ensure quality and producibility.
  • Manages employees and mid-level managers performing quality engineering and technical activities on or in support of programs through all phases of the product lifecycle.
  • Acquires and manages resources, provides quality technical management and leads performance improvements.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees and managers.
  • Partners with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Operations, and Business Unit leadership across the company to identify, prioritize, plan, and implement APQP & other process improvements enabling Boeing to deliver higher quality, affordable products & services to our customers.
  • Builds a proactive quality culture within Boeing using a company-wide communications effort that shares success stories, provides tools and information.
  • Conveys organizational messages to facilitate the accomplishment of organizational goals
  • Proactively communicates with leadership, peers, suppliers and customers
  • Keeps others informed by communicating Quality goals, business vision and strategies, program or project status.
  • Conducts & participates in meetings from executive level to shop floor to direct, educate, report & coach best
  • Actively listens to employees concerns and suggestions to improve organizational performance & culture / Values open and honest communication.
  • Identifies, recruits and develops individuals skilled in best in industry level "quality" practices & procedures.
  • Communicates appropriate policies and directives to enhance employee awareness and clarify expectations
  • Establishes partnerships and relationships with internal and external customers, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports


This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelors Degree or higher in an engineering or science related field
  • 10+ years of experience leading and executing Advance Product Quality Planning Activities (APQP)
  • Experience leading or managing large or complex teams of managers and or non-management employees
  • Experience with Quality and/or Manufacturing processes and organizations
  • Experience developing and executing integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures
  • Experience in developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers, and business partners


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Masters Degree in a relevant business or technical field
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle and/or gated processes
  • Experience working with manufacturing build plans, bill of materials, and manufacturing operations
  • Experience in engineering design or manufacturing engineering
  • Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard
  • Cultural Transformation skills
