Position Overview:POSITION SUMMARY:The Radiologic Technologist provides imaging and patient care services at defined levels to patients.Principal AccountabilitiesAssesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols.

Implements radiation protection and safety standards to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.

Maintains mandated continuing education requirements.

May be required to train / precept students and new techs.

Operates a variety of complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment.

Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical exposure parameters accurately.

Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice, and applicable state/federal regulations.

Prepares for and assists the physician in a variety of imaging and/or invasive procedures.

Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Education, including Licensure, Certification, Registration:ARRT Registered Technologist, {RT(R)} in good standing, or eligible to take the ARRT Radiography registration examination.

BLS Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.

CA State Licensure (CRT) is required.

Fluoroscopy license is required (within 90 days of hire).

Graduate of a JRCERT accredited educational program in radiography.

KnowledgeMust be knowledgeable of technical factors and radiographic views. Understands radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.

Able to recognize potential abnormalities and prioritize accordingly.

ExperiencePrevious experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist is desirable.

Prior work experience in an acute care facility is preferable.

SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations.
