w2 Candidates only for this opening Position Title: Tech Writer with Structured authoring for DITA and FrameMaker (medical industry) Location: 1st preference If you're local to the SF Bay area, the client would like for you to be onsite when needed onsite. It's easier to the job. The 2nd preference: would be 100% Remote if we can’t find the right candidate in the local Bay Area – From client: “I prefer to have someone in the Bay Area with mostly remote who can come in once in a while. If you can’t find local candidates, then they must be willing to work remotely during California core hours between 9AM-5PM (Pacific-Time). They must be able to connect with the teams during core hours. That piece is non-negotiable”. Length: 12 months Process: First round phone screen with Aparna for 30-45 minutes either phone or Teams. Second round will include several other team members for 1.5 hours roughly. Scope: Client is looking for an individual contributor, team player to join their Remote Care medical device team in the role of a junior tech writer/content developer and illustrator. This person will be responsible for collaborating with the project team to gather information needed to develop content to create product labeling in the form of instructions for use, product labels, and quick reference guides. Ideally client is looking for someone with 2-5 years of technical writing or content development experience. They should be able to work in an Agile software development setting, be able to work well with different members of the core team to gather relevant information needed to produce content. They should be able to adhere to standard operating procedures (SOP) and work instructions for creating compliant content. Candidate should also basic knowledge of topic-based authoring and minimalism with basic knowledge of XML authoring tools or standards such as DITA. Since there are multiple openings we would need some candidates to be moderate to extensive use of Adobe products such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, FrameMaker etc. We also need single sourcing, and topic-based authoring experience, preferably DITA. We use a content management system called Schema and do not require writers to have experience with the tooling as we will be training incoming writers on that. Role and Responsibility:
Develop new content for Instructions for Use (IFU), Quick Guide, and Product Labeling.
Participate in the Project Core Team meetings such as Daily Scrums, Sprint Planning meetings, and Retrospectives.
Collaborate with the subject matter experts to gather the needed information to develop content.
Work with the Information Architect to build the structural elements for the content.
Work on the device to test and gather inputs for instructions for use.
Edit, proofread, and route content for review and approval.
Work with UX team to come up with graphic illustrations for quick reference guide.
Publish and distribute content through the appropriate channels following standard operating procedures.
Manage and keep the content up to date.
Ability to learn and pick up new tools and technology.
Skill Requirement:
Associate's or bachelor's degree in science, arts, or a related field.
Working knowledge of content management software, including In Design, FrameMaker, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, and Illustrator (See "Scope" section for more info).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, multitasking, and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good working knowledge of topic-based authoring, and DITA is a PLUS.
Work experience in medical device or other regulated industry is a PLUS.
