Job Description

SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Manufacturing Engineering, the Manufacturing Engineer will be primarily responsible for solving mechanical, electrical, or software issues related to production equipment or manufactured product. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for all aspects of a given project, and responsible for a product throughout the product lifecycle. At Seek, our technology and engineering expertise delivers innovation and disruption in the infrared space. It’s a dynamic environment, so we’re looking for a team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple production lines, products and projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· The Manufacturing Engineer will support existing product lines, addressing and resolving day-to-day issues to maintain steady production. Debug test fixtures (software and hardware), evaluate failures, resolve uncertainties.

· Build effective relationships with production team. Conduct operator training, solicit operator feedback during process development and for process improvements.

· Gather, understand, and act on large amounts of production data. Develop thorough understanding of Seek infrared camera cores and how Seek calibration systems work. Use production data to drive insights.

· Evaluate existing and new processes, systems, and equipment by performing analysis, modeling, and technical trade-off studies to achieve continuous improvement in manufacturing process and test.

· Guide new products throughout the Product Development and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, serving as the voice of the manufacturing customer and driving to optimized DFx.

· Set up new production lines, developing and executing on the following: assembly process, production line layout, assembly tools / fixtures, test equipment / systems, work instructions, and quality documentation.

· Create labor cost estimates and tooling budgets for project planning. Track during project execution.

· Research and develop new analyses, tests, and assembly technologies for use in existing and new products.

· Resolve issues with non-conforming material through evaluation and investigation, then propose appropriate dispositions.

· Some business travel may be required.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

· The Manufacturing Engineer will require exposure to the NPI Process, including DFx, FMEA, IQ/OQ/PQ.

· Understanding and experience with implementation of Lean Manufacturing Techniques, TPS or similar.

· Manufacturing Engineering Documentation: Work Instructions, Line Layouts, Process Maps, PFMEAs, Control Plans.

· Experience with SolidWorks and 3D CAD for tools and fixtures.

· Generate and analyze test data and reports to improve the current manufacturing process.

· Knowledge of the Microsoft Office package and Visio.

· Bias towards action, taking responsibility and maintaining organization in a fast-paced environment.

· Clear communication and presentation in written and verbal formats.

· Project Management experience in a Manufacturing Engineering capacity.

· Basic knowledge of optics and electromechanical assemblies.

DESIRED SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of .SQL, Data Analysis, and Data Visualization, with SPC / MSA experience preferred.

· Knowledge and experience of FMEA and Six Sigma based design.

· Automation experience strongly desirable.

· Analysis of test process and fixture costs.

· Experience in system integration of software and hardware systems.

· Exposure to MES, PLM, ERP and SolidWorks software packages.

· PCBA test experience is strongly desired, with wafer test experience a plus.

· Functional and in-circuit test fixture design is strongly desired.

Qualifications

BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, MS a plus.

· 5+ years of work experience in Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering.
