Job Description

Lead Eating Disorder Technician (Lead ED Tech) is responsible for assisting and supporting patients through the entire treatment experience from admission through discharge. Lead ED Tech is responsible for contributing insightful, practical, and meaningful information to the treatment planning process. Lead ED Tech responsibilities primarily include ensuring patient safety, providing milieu interventions, leading psychoeducational groups, and providing training to onboarding techs.

Essential Job Functions

  • Supports the Executive with day-today tasks
  • Supports in the patient intake process and completes all necessary paperwork and consent forms with patients and their loved ones.
  • Supports in maintaining inventory of household and office supplies and assures the facility is appropriately stocked.
  • Performs emergency drills and assures the appropriate documentation is completed and submitted.
  • Performs facility inspections and assures the appropriate documentation is completed and submitted.
  • Supports in training all new milieu staff within their scope and coordinates training with clinical team members, as appropriate.
  • Supports in the oversight of the maintenance of the facility and provides weekly feedback to the Executive Director regarding any environment of care issues.
  • Supports in the oversight of the maintenance of the facility vehicle.
  • Supports patient during admission processes. This may include checking in patient belongings, acclimating patient to the program and milieu.
  • Effectively and professionally communicates with families/loved ones, as appropriate.
  • Completes relevant tasks within 24 hours of admission and accompanying notes in medical record.
  • Assists and supports patients in day-to-day activities including, but not limited to: waking routines, morning hygiene, meals, nighttime routine, evening hygiene, bathroom observations, and free time.
  • Able to effectively and professionally establish rapport with patients.
  • Provides milieu management throughout the treatment experience and communicates with all team members.
  • Assists in the implementation of the comprehensive treatment plan in the milieu.
  • Contributes to the well-being of all patients by serving as a positive role model.
  • Engages in brief “check ins” wherein patients are provided with support and guidance in using coping skills.
  • Responsible for facilitating psychoeducational groups for the expected length of time identified in the program schedule.
  • Supervises and supports patients on community outings.
  • Objectively and accurately documents patient progress on a daily basis.
  • Assists with discharge process.
  • Works during meal periods to provide supervision and support to patients
  • Maintains an organized and safe environment.
  • Makes timely requests for any absences and ensures coverage for any scheduled shift.
  • Required to check company provided email on every shift.
  • May engage with clinician to carry out clinical interventions within the milieu setting.
  • May support with training of new employees.
  • Performs any other assigned and/or requested duties.
  • Participates in technician on-call rotation three to four weekends per year.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university or two years of experience in the mental health field, required
  • Obtain CPI certification within 90 days of hire
  • Obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire
  • Obtain ServSafe certification within 90 day of hire
  • Must possess a current driver’s license and be in good standing
