San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and Casino, located in Highland CA, is looking for a Director IT Operations in a dynamic 24-hour service environment. The Director IT Operations is responsible for the effective and efficient operational support of all third party and internally managed IT systems used to support all business processes across the enterprise. This individual is also responsible for operational service management processes to ensure quality, efficiency, productivity and agility goals are achieved. As a member of the IT leadership team, this role contributes to the development and execution of the technology strategy. It ensures its alignment with the enterprise's IT and business strategy, and the delivery of capabilities required to achieve Tribal and business success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides onsite oversight for the operations and support of IT systems that fulfill the needs of the business.
  • Fosters a business-oriented culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement techniques.
  • Leads the development of the operations aspects of the IIT strategy and roadmap, and ensures its integration with the broader IT and enterprise strategic plans. Works with business operations teams to ensure good coordination of IT changes without impacting business processes.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with other IT leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs; ensures cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs, and is able to respond with agility to changing business priorities.
  • Develops and controls the IT operations annual operating and capital expenditure budget for IT Operations and manages expenses to stay within plan.
  • Must be able to direct, train, lead and mentor IT Operations team to successfully meet all needs of the business.
  • The director is visible and available at location as they are highly involved in the leadership of the day-to-day IT operations.
  • Participates in the assessment of external and internal technology capabilities with a focus on suitability for integration with the existing IT operations environment.
  • Maintains currency on new technologies and service management practices, and provides direction on what emerging IT operations technologies and methods should be introduced, integrated and assimilated within IT.
  • Supports the IT sourcing strategy, and provides oversight for vendor and partner relationship management.
  • Works with IT leadership team to forecast future skill needs to acquire and develop an IT Operations workforce with the appropriate mix of business knowledge, technical skills and competencies. Work toward a balance between growing the agility required to achieve digital business objectives and ensuring the core IT functions are reliable, stable and efficient. Select, train, develop, organize and motivate a highly qualified and effective team, capable of providing optimum staff support for the organization. The development includes technical abilities as well as leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.

Education/Experience/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in IT with strong technical infrastructure experience is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Experience in a Casino or Hospitality environment preferred.
  • Diversified background of technical infrastructure experience and demonstrated project management acumen, excellent vendor management skills, a superior, service-oriented approach IT operations.
  • Recent experience implementing and managing a comprehensive Change Management, Incident, Problem Management, and other ITIL processes.
  • Experience in supporting COTS.
  • Experience in managing infrastructure implementation and support in an owned and colo environment.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of management and technical teams to influence change and facilitate cooperation.
  • Strong analytic and process skills to track and improve organizational efficiency and performance.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • ITIL Foundations Certifications required and additional ITIL certification is preferred.
