Pacific Builders is seeking a self-driven experienced construction accountant to work as part of its leadership team.
We are:
Well-established S-Corp construction company, founded in 1979
Located in the Creamery District of Arcata, with current projects in Humboldt, Shasta and Mendocino counties.
Stable management team, including Ownership, Project Management and Support Staff
Historic projects range across a broad spectrum of commercial and residential construction, with over 90% of contract work being negotiated projects.
Current emphasis on very low income supported housing, work for tribal entities and non-profits.
Typical work load is approximately twelve active projects
Strong commitment to our local community, safety and our environment.
Current backlog of work at approximately two years
ACCOUNTING RESPONSBILITIES
Manage accounts payables, paying within terms and discount policies
Manage accounts receivable, including billing and collections
Balance vendor and subcontractor accounts each month
Perform all aspects of payroll requirements including tax deposits, quarterly and annual reports
Maintain accounting system and confirm accuracy in general ledger accounts on an ongoing basis
Generate various financial and project reports for partners
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and maintain cash flow statements
Track and oversee accounting aspects of contract terms review.
Enter job cost breakdowns to Sage software to track against estimates.
HUMAN RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Process new hire / termination paperwork
Provide employee handbook and maintain employment files with all required information
Manage vacation and sick pay per company policies
OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage organization’s insurance portfolio, research and recommend general and specific policies, oversee insurance audits
Supervise office systems and make improvements as necessary
Work with management and project supervisors as needed on budgets and forecasts
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Ability to multi-task, set priorities, organize workload and meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of construction accounting and accounting software, prevailing wage laws and lien law
Accounting experience (5+ years)
Certified payroll experience
Working knowledge of Sage a plus
Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting preferred
