Humboldt Educare, the only Non-Profit, private preschool in Humboldt County for 40 years, is looking to expand its teaching team. We are looking for energetic and positive teachers, who have completed at least 12 units of Early Childhood or Child Development college coursework, (or have completed 6 and are currently enrolled in at least 2 or more units). Successful applicants should have some experience working with large groups of children ages 2-5, be able to pass DOJ fingerprint background check, have current CPR and Pediatric First aid certification, and be passionate about preserving the wonder of childhood!

Job Description:

Humboldt Educare Preschool Teacher

General Requirements

• Associate Teacher or higher Child Development Permit, OR Title 22 teacher qualifications with agreement to obtain permit within one year, OR 12 units of Child Development or Early Childhood Education completed OR 6 units completed with enrollment in at east 2 per semester until successful completion of 12.

• First Aid and CPR certification

• Ability to pass D.O.J fingerprint clearance

Duties and Responsibilities

Communication:

• Initiate communication with parents on a daily basis.

• Answer phone and write appropriate messages in log book.

• Greet visitors to the school and explain the program’s policies and procedures.

• Share communication regarding staff and children with Director and other Supervising Teachers.

Supervision:

• Ensure the well-being and safety of each child in the program.

• Provide adequate supervision of children, as well as aides, under his/her supervision in all activities, including outdoor play, lunch, and rest time.

Teaching:

• Nurture the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development of the children.

• Plan and implement daily learning activities based on Educare’s philosophy and curriculum themes

Program Maintenance:

• Maintain a stimulating, safe, and orderly physical environment.

• Implement the licensing requirements for day cares.

• Participate in program maintenance activities such as clean-up, snack preparation, and activity preparation.

Team Participation:

• Attend and Participate in staff meetings.

• Participate in school events outside regular hours.

• Work with other staff to develop guidance plans for individual children as needed.

Other duties as assigned.
