DEFINITION:

Under the general direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation, to plan, direct, promote and conduct assigned recreation programs for the City's Parks and Recreation Department; to supervise and train other recreation staff; and to do related work as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED required. Any combination of training and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the requisite knowledge and abilities would be three (3) years of previous experience working with youth and oversight of public recreation programs and activities, including supervisory experience. First aid and CPR training is desirable.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Regular, part-time.

FLSA non-exempt.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Plans, directs, promotes and conducts assigned recreation programs such as roller skating, Summer Fun & Kiddie Kamp summer day camps, holiday/ school break programs, youth basketball, and other recreational youth and adult sports programs, as well as coordination with Food for People; designs new programs, content, and conducts program activities; prepares marketing strategies including publicity notices, brochures, press notices, and announcements for programs and events; develops and maintains information on program effectiveness and costs; provides information to the public concerning leisure and recreation program content and availability; may assist with assessing community leisure programs and facilities; may assist with grant development for programs; coordinates with Parks and Recreation Director, the Parks and Recreation Administrative Supervisor, and others to provide effective, exciting, and efficient programs and activities; prepares work schedules and supervises Recreation Program Coordinators, Leaders, and volunteer Aides; prepares various reports; provides input for activity budgets. Other duties as required.
