STATUS: Fulltime / 37.5 hours per week / 1950 hours annually

SALARY: $33.00 to $38.00 D.O.E. plus health benefits after one month of employment / 2 weeks paid vacation, 12 sick days, 12 holidays and 1 floating personal day

POSITION PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Community Services Division Director and the Youth Service Bureau Director, the Head of Clinical Services/Social Work Supervisor will assist with and oversee the coordination of a community-based, outpatient mental health services program for children, youth and adults.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Current and valid licensure with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS): Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or Psychologist

Must meet the current California BBS requirements and certification to provide clinical supervision to M.S., M.A. and MSW students and BBS registered clinical interns (ASW, APCC, AMFT)

Meet eligibility requirements to be a Beacon Behavioral Health provider in group practice under a credentialed agency

Experience completing diagnostic assessments, opening clients up to services and providing therapeutic services, group and individual psychotherapy to children, youth, adults and families

Experience with community based mental health outpatient services and philosophies

Possession and proof of current professional Malpractice coverage with minimal liability limits of 1M/5M, which will be maintained and have no gaps in coverage during employment

SALARY / EXEMPT POSITION

This position is considered salary/exempt from overtime according to The Department of Labor; and as such, may occasionally include extended hours into evenings and/or weekends. This position may also be subject to on-call response to emergency calls.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Specific Tasks:

This position will require flexibility and creativity in schedule and approach with a variety of clients and their individual needs

Build therapeutic rapport with clients and their extended support systems

Responsible for opening all clients into services, including but not limited to: diagnostic assessments, opening client documentation, coordinating with insurance agencies and verifying eligibility

Carry and maintain a clinical caseload of varied clientele and provide outpatient mental health services in a variety of settings: office, residences, shelter programs or in the community

o Clinical caseload to include: individual and family counseling/mediation, case management/brokerage, collateral, plan development, etc.

Mastery and timeliness with all clinical documentation

Provide daily clinical supervision, coordination of therapeutic services and facilitate case consultations with assigned clinical staff and interns

Schedule and facilitate staff trainings on topics relevant to providing clinical services

Oversight of Clinical charts: weekly review of clinical staffs progress notes and service activity logs, co-sign final documents for medical chart, maintain proper storage of confidential files

Facilitate and coordinate a monthly clinical audit and peer chart reviews

Coordinate with management to assist and prepare for site reviews, licensing, credentialing and audits

Develop and facilitate therapeutic groups with children, youth and adult clients as directed

Adhere to all federal, state and local laws regarding confidentiality, HIPAA and clients rights

Abide by and follow the American Counseling Associations code of conduct and professional ethics standards

Represent RCAA at community initiatives such as, but not limited to: the bi-monthly Mental Health organizational providers meeting, 0-8 Mental Health Collaborative Planning and Advisory Group, Beacon Behavioral Health Provider meetings and others as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Of and Experience With:

Holistic, client centered, evidence based and trauma informed practices and community based outpatient mental health service models

Psychosocial and psychological assessment tools and their use with clients (standardized and mandated)

Mental health, psychiatry and human services resources and referral processes in Humboldt County

Humboldt Countys system of care

Cultural competency, homelessness, substance use disorders, complex and vicarious trauma, intergenerational poverty, child welfare services involvement, sex trafficking and abuse & neglect

Diagnostic criteria, service implementation strategies and assessment tools specific to children and transitional age youth

Effective clinical supervision practices with a focus on professional development

Case consultation approaches that are applicable to a wide range of staff with various levels of experience

Non-profit philosophies and sustainable programming

Behavioral health insurance protocols and procedures related to outpatient mental health services, pre-authorization processes, eligibility related to medical necessity and mental health billing and coding procedures

Non-clinical assessment tools (CANS, ACEs, Resiliency scales, skills inventory)

Microsoft Word and Excel, email programs and electronic encryption protocols for confidentiality, cell phone capabilities

Ability To:

Communicate clearly and efficiently, written and orally; and be competent in English grammar, punctuation and spelling.

Demonstrate good organizational skills and manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner.

Develop and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with co-workers, RCAA Agency staff, personnel of other agencies, funding source representatives, the local service population and with individuals contacted in the course of work

Show strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to individuals who may not share basic beliefs, including value systems and behavioral norms.

Maintain a professional, confidential work environment.

Establish and maintain personal and programmatic boundaries while providing support services.

Project professionalism and establish professional relationships and boundaries with clientele, agency staff, community providers, funders and partners

Adhere to professional standards including: RCAA Policies & Procedures and Code of Conduct & Ethics, American Counseling Associations Code of Conduct and the BBS Statues and Regulations Handbook

Work well under stressful situations and/or deadlines

Work independently to meet program standards, as well as cohesively in a team approach

Demonstrate cultural competency and relate with individuals of various cultures, ethnicity, non-English speaking persons, philosophical views, backgrounds, income levels and communication skills

Ensure and protect Agency, employee, program and client confidentiality and safety; and follow all protocols and procedures defined by this Agency and/or State and Federal laws to achieve this protection.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Possession and proof of current professional Malpractice coverage with minimal liability limits of 1M/5M, which will be maintained and have no gaps in coverage during employment

Must have means and capacity to perform job related duties with personal vehicle, as will be required, and must have proof of current automobile insurance

Possession of a valid California Drivers License with current DMV report and acceptable driving record

Submit to fingerprinting for criminal record clearance, background and child abuse index checks with acceptable results

Proof of current (within 1 year) negative TB test, or willingness to obtain one (residential)

Home telephone or other effective means of communication
