Food for People, the food bank for Humboldt County, is seeking an outgoing and organized individual to work as part of our dedicated team in the position of Mobile Produce Pantry Coordinator. The Mobile Produce Pantry Coordinator prepares for and conducts farm stand-style free produce distributions for low-income households at established sites in communities across Humboldt County with our large, refrigerated 20-foot box truck with lift gate. In addition, the Mobile Produce Pantry Coordinator interfaces with local farmers to receive produce deliveries for the program, and assists with warehouse tasks. This is a great position for someone who enjoys working with the public and coordinating the warehouse logistics involved in packing, loading, and tracking food for distribution.

The position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a pay rate of $18/hour. Qualifications:

Must possess a combination of education, experience, skills and abilities necessary to carry out the job, including but not limited to the following:

Demonstrate and encourage a professional and positive attitude in all job related activities

Excellent driving record an absolute requirement

Past experience driving a large delivery truck

Past experience operating a lift gate is a plus

Pallet jack and forklift experience, and ability to be certified on our equipment

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitiously

Ability to show initiative and share decision making with co-workers

Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

Spanish language proficiency helpful

Job Title: Mobile Produce Pantry Coordinator

Job Summary: The Mobile Produce Pantry Coordinator is responsible for preparing for and conducting Mobile Produce Pantry distributions at designated locations countywide from our 23-foot refrigerated box truck, in addition to completing accurate inventory and program reporting. The Coordinator also assists with warehouse tasks, as needed. This position works under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager.

Mobile Produce Pantry Responsibilities:

Works with Operations Manager, Warehouse Inventory Specialist, and Local Food Resources Coordinator to identify fresh produce available for Mobile Produce Pantry distributions

Coordinates scheduling of Mobile Produce Pantry distributions, including those that will be conducted in cooperation with the DHHS Mobile Outreach Vehicle and other community partners

Loads and unloads fresh produce for distribution

Maps out route, assesses weather and safety considerations, and drives refrigerated box truck to Mobile Produce Pantry sites

Sets up and operates Mobile Produce Pantry distributions at designated sites, up to 3 days

per week, providing direct service to participating households

Maintains a distribution set-up and process that adheres to FFP’s COVID-19 guidelines for social distancing and safety protocols

Works alongside FFP Outreach staff to ensure that the appropriate participation data is recorded on behalf all households accessing Mobile Produce Pantry services

Works collaboratively with FFP Nutrition Education and CalFresh Outreach staff to provide information, education, and referral opportunities at all Mobile Produce Pantry distributions

Maintains refrigerated truck by performing daily and weekly safety checks and ensuring that the interior and exterior of the truck are cleaned regularly

Consults with the Operations Manager and Bookkeeper to schedule vehicle maintenance and repairs, as needed

Attends and participates in monthly Mobile Produce Pantry-Outreach team meetings, to debrief on previous month and help plan the month ahead.

Warehouse Responsibilities:

Works with Operations and Warehouse staff to maintain clean, safe working conditions at FFP warehouse spaces

Works with Operations and Warehouse staff to complete additional warehouse duties, as needed

Provides supervision and support for assigned volunteers, to ensure a safe work environment

Assists with forklift loading and unloading of food items from vendor trucks, FFP vehicles, and for movement of food between and within FFP warehouses

Assists with tracking incoming and outgoing food items using established warehouse inventory procedures

Record Keeping Responsibilities:

Submits time sheets, expense reports, and other required documentation in accordance with Food for People requirements

Enters each site’s household data into MPP Excel tracking spreadsheet, for ongoing monitoring of trends and submitting with monthly program reports

Tracks and enters Mobile Produce Pantry food usage data into inventory database, in accordance with established inventory procedures

Updates household participation and poundage numbers in the FFP master calendar, to aid sourcing staff with accurate food ordering for the upcoming month

Works with Outreach staff to enter additional program distribution statistics into database

Records mileage for all program activities

Updates procedures manual for the Mobile Produce Pantry program

Keeps complete log of mileage for vehicle usage

Organizational Responsibilities:

Attends and participates in relevant staff and/or board and committee meetings

Participates in staff development activities/trainings as needed to complete job duties or as required by the Executive Director

Responsible for developing and maintaining positive, effective working relationships with fellow staff, volunteers, board members, and community partners

Ensures that all food bank clients and volunteers are treated with dignity and respect

Maintains positive, effective relationships with vendors and donors

Participates in organization’s fundraising activities, as needed

Performs other duties as needed and/or upon request

Reports on-site for scheduled days and hours
