Are you seeking a place where the social justice movement really exists? Two part time Client Advocate positions are open with Humboldt Domestic Violence Services (HDVS) - Bilingual/English (fluent Spanish speaker). Advocates are responsible for providing direct services to domestic and intimate partner violence and trafficked survivors and their children who seek the assistance of HDVS and its Safehaven Shelter program.

Duties include, but are not limited to, providing the following direct services to clients:

Provides staff services to clients and community on its 24-hour support line

Crisis intervention and supportive peer counseling

Emergency relief including shelter, food, clothing, transportation and miscellaneous provisions

Information and referral

Advocacy on behalf of client to hospitals, law enforcement agencies, social service agencies, other battered

women's services, etc

Check-ins for survivors

Voluntary Participation Program supporter

Restraining Order Assistance

Court Accompaniment

Intake and electronic client data base system

Weekly mandatory staff meetings, documentation electronic and written

Community Outreach and Resources

Creative resiliency

Bachelor's degree preferred, but will consider incoming junior/senior college students with Social Justice, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology or Gender Studies backgrounds, and academic support. Position is part time (16-24 hours, with varying shifts). Individual must pass DOJ Live Scan and DMV report and have or be able to obtain 40-hour DV/IVP certification training after hire with HDVS.
