HOURS: Full Time M-F 8am-4pm

SUPERVISOR: Executive Director

SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Senior Support Worker will act as the second-in-command of a team of direct service staff and volunteers. The Senior Support Worker must be aware of the general operation of the licensed site. Following the management of the Executive Director, the Senior Support Worker implements policies, oversees operations, and supports staff to assist clients in achieving their prescribed goals and objectives in accordance with their unique Individual Service Plans. Senior Support Worker will serve as liaison between staff, individuals served, and the Executive Director. Must continue education/training, as needed, concerning adults who have intellectual/developmental disabilities in a community integration setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF SUPPORT WORKER:

1. Shall provide relief to co-workers for their meal periods and restroom breaks, as needed.

2. Shall provide support to the Executive Director, as needed.

3. Shall fill-in for other employees during absences.

4. Assist clients with self-image activities such as grooming, work appropriate dressing, and personal hygiene.

5. Assists with distribution, taking, and storing of medications as specified in Section 80075(GLR) and maintain

accurate, timely records of dispensing and storage.

6. Supervises client schedules and activities.

7. Implements curriculum and activities designed for clients.

8. Assists in teaching clients daily living skills, problem solving, choice-making, and continuing education.

9. Provides clients with learning experiences to promotes and reinforce positive behaviors.

10. Assist clients with relating to individuals and groups in an integrated setting such as community activities,

vocational settings, and/or volunteer opportunities.

11. Provides clients with verbal and/or non-verbal reinforcement as needed when following daily schedules.

12. Instructs clients on understanding a task, how to use tools and equipment, and/or accessing supplies.

13. Assists clients with fire/safety drills.

14. Completes and maintains daily schedules, time sheets, mileage logs, client program reports, and other records

as needed.

15. Contributes to the overall morale and environment of the DCC.

16. Fill in for other support workers, when absent, as needed.

17. Perform scheduled volunteer activities in the event of a client absence.

18. Assists clients in performing custodial tasks according to their ISP.

19. Maintains effective relationships with other team members to ensure team work, quality control, and

establish the best methods for assisting clientele.

20. Ability to follow directions and take constructive criticism.

21. Maintain center rules and protocols for client safety and protection.

22. Report any concerns, complaints, or suggestions to direct supervisor.

23. Report any proposed program/company modifications to Executive Director BEFORE taking action to make

any changes.

24. Operate company vehicles to transport clients to designated locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF SENIOR SUPPORT WORKER include all duties of a Support Worker and, but not limited to, the following:

1. Senior Support Worker will work as part of, and oversee, a team of staff and volunteers in the support of

individuals served by the DCC.

2. Emphasize client/consumer choices by facilitating schedules regarding individual routines, needs, variety,

and overcoming challenges that comply with their ISP.

3. Ensure that services necessary to comply with individual client/consumers’ needs are met.

4. Will adhere to all laws, regulations, and policies governing the DCC and client/consumers.

5. Will thoroughly check reports for completeness and accuracy.

6. Relay employee concerns, needs, and suggestions to the Executive Director regarding all aspects of the

DCC operation, facility, and schedules.

7. Will only disburse pertinent program information to staff with the permission of Executive Director.

8. Meet with Executive Director to discuss management concerns.

9. Must have a developed and written strategy for dealing with conflict both with clients and co-workers.

10. Must oversee and develop training materials/forms/curriculum as needed for the site under the guidance of

the Executive Director.

11. Must be competent in computer use.

12. Create and implement weekly staff schedules.

13. Oversee the application and documentation of the California Adult and Child Food Program.

14. Attend meetings, trainings, and/or appointments regarding the DCC and/or DCC client(s) outside regularly

scheduled work hours as needed.

15. Maintain inventory of essential operating tools and/or documents, order supplies, and go on supply runs

as needed.

16. Fill in for absent support workers as needed.

17. Must learn and be able to perform all functions of support worker position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty accurate-ly. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associates Degree in Human services, five years’ experience working with persons with intellectu-al/developmental disabilities, or equivalent training/experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret comprehensive documents written in English. Able to write reports, participant goals, and fill out needed paper work in English. Must be able to speak English effective-ly in both large and small settings in the community, with participants, families, staff, employers, agencies, and other individuals, as needed, to accomplish objectives.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Must be able to keep accurate billing information and understand work incentives.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Able to use creative prob-lem solving and decision-making skills.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Certification of TB clearance, physical exam, fingerprint clearance, and dependable transportation are required prior to employment start. DMV printout, proof of insurance and vehicle inspection are required prior to transporting program participants. Current CPR and first aid certificates and stand-ard orientation trainings.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to prioritize job responsibilities, have strong organizational skills, able to multitask, work inde-pendently, and think creatively. Must be punctual, reliable, and trustworthy.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, and hear. They also need to be able to use hands, reach with their arms, feel objects, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The employee must frequently lift and or move objects up to 50 lbs. and move items in and out of vehicles. Specific vision abilities required for this job are seeing near and far, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment will be based in the community and the day center and be varied in sound and environmental conditions.
