Job Description
The position of Youth Assistant is for 6hrs a week at $15 per hour. This position will involve weekly communication/check-ins with the Children and Youth Ministry Director, a weekly online Sunday School class/storytime for the younger children and weekly in-person contact via small group activities with the children and youth involved in the various ministries of First Presbyterian Church of Eureka. Small groups activities will vary in location and nature. Due to Covid-19 our activities are mostly outside with one or two families or 2—4 children or youth at a time.
Qualifications and Requirements:
-A deep religious commitment with a strong personal code of ethics, including maintaining confidentiality.
-Experience working with both children and youth of various ages and backgrounds
-Experience leading small groups
-Experience in a leadership role working with children and youth in a church, school or child-care setting
-Experience and comfortability leading small group lessons, crafts/art/projects, games, and engaging with both children and youth on a more personal and conversational level
-Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and hold a GED/high school diploma
-Applicant must adhere to a Live Scan background check and be cleared to work with minors
-Applicant must have means to their own transportation
-Applicant must be compliant with any and all health & safety measures in place due to Covid-19
