Core Hours: Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm

This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance on equipment as well as maintaining structures and the grounds at both the Creamery in Arcata and the Dairy in Mckinleyville. In addition, assistance on special projects will be required. All work must be done in compliance with OSHA standards, including but not limited to, Lock Out/Tag Out procedures for all equipment and machinery.

Essential Duties

The essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Preventative Maintenance

Perform preventative maintenance on various pieces of equipment, including but not limited to Wastewater Plant equipment.

Perform preventative maintenance on exterior and interior of buildings.

Troubleshoot minor and major issues and report them to the Maintenance Manager.

Perform and record equipment/machinery repair and maintenance.

Maintain fences around properties.

Buildings

Ensure exterior of buildings and sidewalks are free of debris and pests.

Keep lighting in proper working condition.

Maintain building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure.

Repair structures and finish deficiencies inside and outside creamery and dairy.

Special projects

Assist and/or carryout special projects as needed during and/or after hours. Special projects include but are not limited to;

General mechanical, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work on new equipment installations.

Diagnosing breakdowns with equipment.

Dealing with emergency repairs.

Other projects as requested by Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications

Skills/Experience

Degree in technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have knowledge of and ability to use various power tools in a safe manner.

Solid understanding and experience using computerized systems.

Understanding of and experience with electrical wiring, plumbing, and construction.

Must pass a written and practical forklift safety and operational skills test and obtain a forklift certificate.

Must have the ability to obtain a Grade 1 Industrial Wastewater Operator certificate.

Work Environment

The Cypress Grove production environment will vary. The environment will be hotter or colder, wetter, and more humid than is typical in an average working environment. Grovers will regularly and daily work near and with industrial strength cleaning chemicals and equipment. Proper protective gear is provided and must be worn at all times. MSDS sheets are available.

Physical Demands

This is a physically demanding job. The demands described here are representative of those typically encountered in this role.

Remain stationary for long periods of time and move about on concrete floors.

May be required to work outdoors in various types of weather.

Position self to properly complete the task at hand. This may involve turning all or parts of the body, or bending downward in order to place or reach an object at a lower level.

Ability operate heavy equipment.

Extend above the shoulder in order to place or retrieve objects.

Ability to grasp, raise, lower and/or move objects of various sizes and weights:

Individually regularly manipulate objects weighing up to 20lbs

With assistance regularly manipulate objects weighing from 21lbs to 30lbs

Occasionally with assistance manipulate objects weighing from 31lbs to 50lbs.
