Transportation Assistant

Summary of Position
This position works under the general supervision of the Transportation Director and in tandem with the Inventory team, but must also be able to work independently. Responsible for maintenance of company vehicles, as well as dispatch while drivers are on the road. Must be able to communicate well in person/teams, over the phone and via email. Computer literacy is required to create proper documents and spreadsheets, confidently maneuver the company's inventory tracking software (Distru), and ensure all appropriate paperwork has been collected, submitted, and filed.
Responsibilities
Maintenance of all company vehicles, including regular inspections, cleaning, repairs and preparation of maintenance schedules.
Gather information from Accounts Receivable and Inventory team, as well as the route prepared by the Transportation Director to create the drive schedule every week.
Send out emails to clients regarding their delivery times.
Create and print shipping manifests in Distru that reflect all appropriate delivery, shipper, and receiver information.
Dispatch and coordination of company vehicles and drivers on-call at all times when vehicles are on the road.
Receive driver notes and delivery paperwork after orders have been completed and update necessary spreadsheets weekly.
Collect and communicate driver payroll hours to Finance team with approval from Transportation Director.
Work with Inventory Team to load vehicles with the appropriate orders before departure.
Maintain proper records, including driver notes, driver expenses, record of cash received, etc.
Stay up-to-date on compliance requirements and all appropriate state and federal department regulations.

Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience with and/or advanced study of logistics, fleet management, distribution, etc.
Salary Range: $18-$20 per hour DOE, benefits after 60 days
