We are seeking a food sampler to join our team-oriented environment of food professionals in Imperial Valley, Yuma, AZ and Salinas, CA. The position will move with the growing season of Arizona and California produce. The individual’s home base will be in Imperial Valley. This person will be at their home base for approximately 4-6 months out of the year, and at the traveling base 6-8 months (housing & per diem provided while at traveling base). Interested parties in working ONLY the Yuma, AZ season part time are welcome to apply as well. Yuma’s season is typically October – March. Training provided. Clean DMV record required. Company vehicle with company insurance and company phone provided. Must have open availability to work any of the following schedules: early mornings, early evenings, weekends, holidays and/or overtime.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ability and desire to work outdoors during inclement weather conditions on a regular basis
Able to work long hours and overtime
Ability to lift, bend, stoop, carry (up to 35 pounds) over a variety of terrain
Ability to walk long distances (several acres in the course of a day)
Ability to transition with the growing seasons (6-8 months working in Salinas, Ca. and 5-6 months working in Yuma, Az.). Length of time can vary depending on growing season.
Map skills (can read maps/GPS coordinates and find fields in remote areas)
Previous experience in an agricultural related field (walking fields) desired
Current personal auto insurance, and a clean DMV record
Dependable, trustworthy, self-motivated, strong work ethic, quick to learn
Organizational & time management skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
Produce field & facility sampling for the local/Yuma areas with GPS tracking (15 to 60 GPS points per acre dependent on protocol)
Sample according to company Standard Operating Procedures
Availability when needs arise
Company vehicle and insurance provided. Company vehicle and equipment maintained and kept clean
Efficiently strategizing work day
Detail and correctness of paperwork
Communication with client field and Dispatch staff
