Job Description
Hi, we are Siemens Mobility, a world-class rail car manufacturing facility in Sacramento, California. We are a market leader in the production of passenger locomotives and coaches, and light rail vehicles. As a Gas Metal Arch Welder, you will support a broad range of activities in a dynamic, high energy production environment in the fabrication of carbon steel and stainless-steel car bodies for the best rail vehicles in the world.
What you will be doing:
Start with getting certified in our in-house Weld Education Center. Work from engineering drawings to fit up and weld assemblies and sub-assemblies with the support of jigs and fixtures. Correct inspection findings. Meet production schedule with minimum supervision.
What you will need to be successful:
High school education, community college weld program, technical weld school, or equivalent experience. 3 years minimum experience in welding fabrication. AWS certification for carbon steel and stainless steel using GMAW process positions 1F-4F and 1G-4G. Knowledge of gas torch and plasma equipment, overhead crane operations, pneumatic hand tools such grinders, and air chisels.
We would be impressed if you had:
Skills in all forms of GMAW welding. Your competence in reading and fully understanding manufacturing drawings. The ability to work with minimum supervision. Your ability to contribute to the team’s performance. Your confidence with measurements, tolerances, and the metric system.
