Email a FriendSaveSaveApply NowPosition Description:SUMMARY:Under general direction of the Accounting Manager, this position will be responsible for organizational improvements, month end close, reconciliations, variance analysis, and productivity metrics and must perform specialized accounting functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting procedures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following: Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet business needs. Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments. Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying information. Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts. Supports transaction level functions Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures, recommending changes. Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. Maintain a variety of electronic and manual records; prepare routine and special reports. Communicate verbally and in writing with customers, suppliers and staff members to exchange information, resolve discrepancies, and correct errors. Gather and produce special project information as requested by the Accounting Manager or auditors. Prepare journal entries. Partner w/ functional leaders to identify opportunities to improve the business results. Participate in the monthly close process by generating various journal entries, preparing required reconciliations & analytically reviewing specific general ledger accounts for accuracy & proper valuation.Position Requirements:Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field Certified Public Accountant (preferred) Minimum 3-6 years of related experience. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and record keeping procedures (GAAP) and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Strong journal, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable knowledge Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) is a plus Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP systems, preferably Oracle Strong integrity: Job requires being professional, honest, and ethical Ability to perform a variety of complex accounting and clerical duties involving the highest degree of accuracy and organization. Ability to make mathematical calculations quickly and accurately Ability to operate a computer keyboard and 10-key calculator by touch Advanced accounting, payroll, and spreadsheet software skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Advanced organizational skills Exceptional oral and written English communication skills Ability to work independently with little or no direction and to meet schedules and timelines Ability to work confidentially with discretion Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all contacted in the scope of employment Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles Environment: Office environment; frequent interruptionsPhysical Demands & Work Environment: Requires the ability to access all areas of the facility. Ability to hear and speak to exchange information in person and on the telephone Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment Ability to see to read a variety of materialsTools Used: Personal computer and software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe Acrobat, Access).
