Title of Position: Campus Aide

Directly Responsible to: School Leader(s)

Status: Non-Exempt; Part-time; Hourly

Rate: $15/hr

Primary Function: Assists in maintaining standards of student discipline and ensuring the observance of rules and procedures by students and others on a school campus and at bus loading points at the direction of a school administrator or teacher.

Minimum Qualifications:

() High School Diploma

() Experience working with middle/high school students

() TB Test clearance & DOJ fingerprinting clearance

() An enthusiasm to support a young and growing school program

Essential Functions:

Support Larchmont Schools' program through supervision that maintains a safe, respectful, inclusive and fun atmosphere and tone that is consistent with the Larchmont Charter School mission and philosophy;

Support the social/emotional well being of students using strategies and processes consistent with the school mission and philosophy;

Patrol school corridors, rest rooms, assembly and athletic facilities, and other campus locations in order to observe student behavior and prevent violations or unsafe activities.

Provide information to school administrators regarding causes and effects of campus and community tension.

May direct students and others and take action, as necessary, to prevent injury to persons or damage to property.

May discuss with student groups issues relating to appropriate behavior and school expectations.

May work with groups authorized to be on the campus before and after school and keep the campus free of unauthorized persons.

May assist school administrators in contacting parents regarding students with behavioral problems and in discussing campus security with parent and community groups.

May assist a certificated employee in supervising students during field trips and special events.

May assist a certificated employee in counseling individual students or groups of students or in assisting student clubs.

May assist with set up, clean up, storage of equipment, and all other processes for caring for the grounds and facility

Attend any/all trainings and meetings to stay current on expectations, policies and procedures;

Interface with parents around questions and concerns; communications about programs, activities, and scheduling;

Maintain reliable, consistent attendance and punctuality.

Other Functions:

Perform other duties as assigned.

Assist in other school programs when necessary.

Knowledge of:

Facilitation strategies and approaches to creating and maintaining environment of safety, respect, and learning; Cultural and socio-economic differences in the student population; Conflict resolution strategies to support healthy social development in children; Professional skills for collaboration and teamwork with other education professionals; Written and oral communications skills.

Ability to:

Supervise & support students; Create and maintain a safe, respectful environment; Meet the needs of a diverse student population; Establish good relations with individual students and groups; Support student social & emotional development; Work collaboratively & professionally with the Larchmont Schools team; Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to support student success; React quickly and appropriately in emergencies; Operate two-way radio equipment; Use modern technology for instructing, communicating and reporting.

Physical Requirements:

Continual speaking; standing for long periods of time; frequent sitting, reaching, walking, bending, grasping and pinching, occasional lifting and carrying, squatting, twisting or kneeling.

Environment:

Uneven surfaces, noise, quick work pace. Requires that the incumbent work effectively under stressful situations and respond to the unpredictable behaviors of students. Frequent use of computer screen. Occasionally involves working outdoors and exposure to inclement weather. Infrequently involves exposure to traffic congestion. May rarely involve exposure to biohazardous waste.

Other Requirements:
