Administers, plans, and directs activities of Graduate Medical Education, Medical Staff and CME/Medical Library services. Ensures services to facility are delivered in safe, timely and effective manner. Responsible for coordinating the Graduate Medical Education program for physicians. Sets up and maintains complete and accurate Resident applications and files; assists Residency Medical Directors and organizes Residency conferences. Provide administrative support to assigned Departments and Committees of the Medical Staff. Maintains performance improvement activities and participates in CQI activities of all departments.Medical Staff|Establishes, contributes and maintains the continuity in the planning, development and implementation of standards applicable to Medical Staff members relating to credentialing, quality and administrative function.

Encourages physicians and their patients use HPMC's facilities and services profitably and more often than annual and long term expectations.

Participates in hospital and medical staff marketing activities.

Leads medical staff preparation, organization, and follow-up involved in maintaining hospital accreditation and licensure with regulatory agencies.

Graduate Medical EducationLeads assigned business units whereby the employee's engagement scores exceed annual and long term expectations.

Operates the facility and its assigned business units whereby physician’s satisfaction scores exceed and long term expectations.

Ensures Continuing and Graduate Medical Education as well as Medical Resident and Student Program are appropriately and timely implemented based on discussion/evaluation of facility and educational institutions' goals/objectives.

Collaborates with the Business Development and Physician Relations departments to develop/implement Medical Research programs, including coordination of grant and proposal development.

Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational staff meetings and in-services/workshops.

Attends Medical Staff Committee meetings as needed.

CME/Medical LibraryMaintains and cultivates Medical Library to assist physicians, health professionals and medical researchers in finding health and scientific information to improve, update, assess or evaluate health care.

Maintains access to Medline available for use in library.

Ensures staffing of qualified library staff on hand to answer reference questions, and provide training in using electronic resources.

GeneralDevelops, implements and evaluates policies and procedures for appropriate department(s).

Establishes necessary staffing requirements of department(s). Directs hires, performance management and development of staff within department(s).

Consistently develops a detailed plan of action prior to implementation of a new procedure.

Regularly examines alternative methods of providing required services in order to reduce departmental operating costs.

Promotes good staffing practices by maximizing the utilization of human resources; forecasts and anticipates the personnel needs of the department with regard to fluctuations in the projected workload; holds staffing at a functional minimum.

Consistently demonstrates the ability to establish appropriate departmental priorities.

Effectively maintains all required records for the department; demonstrating good organizational skills.

Formulates department budgets and assists with formulation of hospital capital budgets. Initiates corrective action when variations arise.

Coordinator, GME/CME

Provides administrative support to assigned Departments and Committees of the Medical Staff.

Monitors all aspects of Graduate Medical Education in ACGME.

Identifies potential educational programs for the residents.

Consults with Department Chairmen, Medical Directors, and hospital staff to identify educational programs.

Meets with outside vendors to encourage educational grants.

Distributes meeting notices, flyers, advertising and assists with numerous mailings.

Records discussion, recommendation and conclusion of assigned department and committee meetings.

Updates Medical Staff database to include all new Residents.

Sets up and maintain complete and accurate Resident applications and files.

Prepares credentialing letters to verify residency and medical degree received.

Runs a national practitioner database and DEA search on new residents.

Sends copy of delineation of privileges to applicable departments and stations throughout the facility.

Compiles/Distributes monthly Resident Rotation list to applicable departments and stations throughout the facility.

Assists Residency Program Medical Director with weekly Resident training conferences (including weekly accumulation, formatting, and distribution of statistics for discussion in conferences).

Maintains and updates the required GME Remote Program database for Medicare reimbursement tracking.

Ensures privacy and confidentiality regulation adherence.

Job accountabilities for Research Project Development

Maintains files for research protocol studies at HPMC

Monitors status of assurances and IRB registration with the Office of Human Research Protection

Submits protocol proposals to Western IRB for oversight approval or waiver. In the instance of Western IRB waiver, maintain communication with the appropriate IRB.

Value Based Purchasing

Works with assigned departments to ensure staff is informed of VBP goals/targets.

Includes updates regarding VBP (Core Measures, HCAHPs, Readmissions, etc.) as appropriate in staff meetings.

Develops and implements action plans designed to improve VBP status of the department(s) and/or hospital.

Ensures staff is accountable for achieving Core Measures, HCAHPS and other VBP goals.Minimum Education:Bachelor's Degree in healthcare related field required.

Preferred Education:Master's degree preferred.

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications:Five years recent experience in similar position in acute healthcare setting
