As a Postdoctoral Scientist, you will be working in the Tourtellotte lab which studies the role of growth factor and transcription factor signaling in peripheral nervous system target tissue innervation and innervation homeostasis (Tourtellotte, Am. J. Pathology, 186: 489; Oliviera Fernandes et al., J. Neurosci., 35: 5566; Jackson et al., Devel., 141: 2452). In this role, you will study the role of growth factor signaling in peripheral autonomic neuropathy.Essential job duties and responsibilities:

Work independently under the mentoring of the principle investigators.

Work independently on research projects under the supervision of the principal investigator (mentor).

Design and conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, troubleshoot experiments, analyze data for publication and grant applications.

Present research at national and international meetings, and prepare manuscripts for publication.

Teaching other research staff, students, and residents may be required.

Education required:

Must hold a doctoral degree (preferably with expertise in neuroscience, neurobiology, molecular biology or closely related field) and have a passion for translational research using animal models to study peripheral nervous system development and target tissue innervation homeostasis.

Experience required:

Experience in molecular biology, working with transgenic mice, cell culture, immunocytochemistry and imaging techniques is preferred. Experience working with pluripotent stem cells and proteomic analysis of isolated protein complexes especially of benefit.

Physical demands:

Position requires basic science work, and being on the bench and on the computer for extended periods of time and the use of specialized laboratory equipment.

Must be able to sit, stand and/or stoop for long periods of time and be able to lift at least 11 pounds.
