Job Description

Application Security Automation: You will collaborate with the security team at Oblong to automate static and runtime analysis capabilities for our web services. Our goal is to integrate security into our integration and delivery pipelines to have high confidence in the security of released software.

Application Security Reviews: You will work closely with the owners and engineers of complex, critical services to quickly understand business context and real-world impact. You will work directly with architects to ensure security coverage of the complete application. You will use and train others to use automated tooling to reduce security issues early in the development lifecycle. You will be a mentor to the team and help other security team members increase the security posture of engineering.

Vulnerability mitigation: You will help our upstream partners and libraries to find and mitigate vulnerabilities in their code and services. You will help our downstream partners to write and use our services securely. You will be a representative of Oblong’s commitment to security in the community.

Research, Training, and Tool Development: Cloud security is ever evolving, and you will help Oblong to stay ahead of threats and keep our engineering staff one step ahead of threats. You will have the opportunity to participate in the web / cloud security community to provide new tools and to keep aware of current and future best practices.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Computer science or relevant industry experience
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with detecting and mitigating OWASP Top Ten
  • Experience securing web applications written with Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, etc
  • Experience with automated tools to scan and identify security issues
  • Experience with a scripting language like Python, Ruby. Experience with Go, Rust, or C/C a plus
  • Understanding of networking protocols: TLS, HTTPS
  • Comfortable working with engineering and existing security teams to build products and services as a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with securing large distributed systems
  • Experience with WebRTC and streaming media security
  • Experience with static code analysis, dynamic and runtime analysis tools
  • Comfortable customizing and making changes to existing analysis tools
