Small neighborhood tavern hiring a STRONG, EXPERIENCED, LINE COOK for part-time hours with room to grow.

Opening shift currently available - 3:30pm - 9:30pm between 3-5 days a week depending on calendar and your skill level.

We are a very small, tight-knit kitchen with a small menu of bar fare. Top level cleanliness, speed, consistency, and organization are required. If you do not have experience running a busy line by yourself, do not apply. You will be cross-trained in both opening and closing to be able to cover all shifts, but the schedule will be as consistent as possible. All cooks share the same responsibilities in prepping, cleaning, and working the line. Pay is $20.00/hr, paid every two weeks through direct deposit. Must have a valid driver’s license and social security, OR valid passport. NO CASH, NO EXCEPTIONS.

JOB DUTIES:

- Opening and setting up the line for service, including all equipment and utensils, hot and cold lines, and sanitary elements

- Prioritizing the prep list and following recipes exactly, including proper labeling, storage, and rotation of products

- Washing and drying dishes properly and storing them back in the correct places

- Being able to run the line alone or with one other cook, reading tickets properly and put out food exactly the same every single time. Consistency and speed are key - We do not use heat lamps or holding areas, timing is very important to keep food hot and fresh.

- Prioritizing cleanliness and organziation - cleaning as you go, being consistent with storage and

- Properly restocking and rotating the line, maintaining and following a readable, accurate and up-to-date prep list.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - NO EXCEPTIONS:

- 3 years experience working a busy line, MUST be comfortable with fryers, flat top, and cold line

- Must have strong knife skills, you will be asked to demonstrate during the interview

- Must have up to date CA Food Handler’s Card, or Serv-Safe Certification

- No room for egos or toxicity. This is a very small staff in front and back of house, and we all love what we do and support each other as best as possible.

- ZERO TOLERANCE DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY, even marijuana. Do not arrive under the influence or smelling of any substance.

- PUNCTUALITY IS NON-NEGOTIABLE - Must have reliable transportation.

- Must be willing to learn and adapt to our systems. Everything in our small kitchen has its place and proper procedures. Organization and cleaning up after oneself are non-negotables; the kitchen does not function otherwise.

- Must have kitchen safe non-slip shoes and a hat every day, and kitchen appropriate pants. Feel free to bring your own aprons and wear any appropriate t-shirt, but standard aprons are provided if desired.
