Permit Sonoma is responsible for orderly land development, and the stewardship and preservation of critical natural resources. This position is key to building and implementing the department's wildfire resiliency programs which include landscape scale defensible space, structure hardening, and vegetation management. As Permit Sonoma's Grants Program Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and reviewing the activities, performance, budget, and grant functions of the department and, in particular, FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HGMP). This work requires extensive coordination with Permit Sonoma's Building, Fire Prevention, Natural Resources, and Planning programs as well as other County departments and special districts. Additionally, the Grants Program Manager position:Awards grants, reviews and approves pending applications, and issues notices of intent
Performs project tracking, reporting, and auditing to ensure that activities comply with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements
Manages grant activities between department staff, consultants, and other agencies
Prepares and oversees Requests for Proposals for grant consultants
Pursues all available recovery and resilience related funding opportunities
Coordinates and prepares grant submissions, reports, and related Board items
Represents Permit Sonoma at Steering Committee and Community Outreach events
The most successful candidates for this Grants Program Manager position will:Have extensive grant management experience, and in-depth knowledge of state and federal requirements related to land and emergency management funding
Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills; with the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
Highlight a proven skillset for building and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with diverse audiences and customers
Be able to pivot quickly and manage the normal, every-day stresses of a fast-paced work environment
