Job Summary
The candidate will join a great team working on a grant funded by the National Institute on Aging (R01) focused on developing policy recommendations at the federal and state level to better serve older adults with cognitive impairment from racially and ethnically diverse communities in the US, especially older adults living alone. The PI is looking for a Research Coordinator to perform tasks related to her investigation in rural California. Local travel is required. This is a superb remote position to kick-start or consolidate a career in research. This is a part time contract position.
Tasks include:
Working with local community partners to assist with study recruitment and dissemination of results
Recruiting & screening study participants in rural California
Conducting one-on-one in person interviews with study participants
Organizing & giving educational presentations in rural California communities
Working in coordination with project manager and other research assistants to coordinate data collection activities
Administering a complex cognitive test in to understand if potential participants qualify for study
Working with research team to create recruitment and dissemination documents.
Possible local travel to study participants' residence
Overall, the Research Coordinator will support with data collection, as well opportunities to support manuscript writing and dissemination of the findings.
Department Description
The Institute for Health & Aging is an organized research unit at UCSF. The work of the Institute includes extensive research, training, and public service in the areas of aging, health, and health policy.
Required Qualifications
HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities.
Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
Attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills; excellent, effective verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with subjects, team members, other departments and outside institutions; and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while working with a diverse subject population.
Ability to work well independently, complete projects in a timely manner, and prioritize multiple projects to ensure the completion of essential tasks by deadlines.

Ability to assist in writing and editing manuscripts with PI
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
Understanding of patient population to create rapport and a relationship, while also giving insight to what is realistic and appropriate for patient participation.
