Starting salary up to $29.40/hour ($61,361/year), a cash allowance of $600/month, and a competitive total compensation package!*

County of Sonoma Bridge Workers improve our community through the construction, repair, and maintenance of: bridges, culverts, catch basins, viaducts, curbs, gutters, and other related timber, concrete, and steel structures. Ideal candidates for Bridge Worker have a valid Class A driver's license and three or more years of experience:

Constructing, repairing, and maintaining bridges, cattle guards, guardrails, and steel ties

Preparing foundations for bridge footing and abutments; constructing sack walls, and rip rapping

Welding fillet, flange, plug, slot, seam, surfacing, and backing welds in the flat, horizontal, vertical, and/or overhead welding position

Operating air compressor, cutting-torch, and sand blasting equipment

Safely operating and maintaining pile drivers, cranes, and backhoes

Although not required, highly desirable certifications include: Articulating Boom Crane (ABC), Articulating Boom Crane with Winch (ABW), Lattice Boom Truck (LBT), Rigger 1, Signalman 1, Shielded Metal Arc Welding/Stick Welding, Arc Structural Welding, and use and inspection of Fall Protection for bridge maintenance activities.
