As an Environmental Specialist, you will be performing a wide variety of field and office work related to the environmental review of public and private construction and development projects. Duties include analyzing and reporting on the environment effects of public (flood control, highway, water supply, sanitation) and private (residential, commercial, industrial) construction projects, and/or agricultural development projects including all cultivated agriculture (row and field crop farming) grazing and vineyard and orchard development as required by Federal, State, local laws, and ordinances.Ideal candidates will have experience:Reviewing and analyzing private agricultural development, cultivated agriculture (i.e. row and field crops), grazing, and vineyard and orchard developments for compliance with various federal, state, regional and local laws and ordinancesMaintaining relationships with private land owners, stakeholders, and various Federal, State, Regional, and Local agencies on issues that relate to the environmental conditions in agricultural settings and developmentDeveloping and recommending mitigation measures and Best Management Practices (BMPs) to be followed by private land owners that will eliminate, minimize, or mitigate environmental effectsConducting outreach and creating educational materials regarding BMPs, various regulatory requirements, and standards designed to mitigate environmental impacts from agriculture. Inspecting proposed project sites in order to obtain data and analyze potential effects agricultural development may have on the environment for inclusion in site development plans, permits, and reportsPerforming complex, detailed research and analysis documentation on short term, long term, and cumulative environmental impacts resulting from agricultural operationsWriting and reading technical documents, interpreting engineered plans, and utilizing GIS toolsReviewing project specifications to determine compliance with code standards and assisting in enforcement actions
