Qualifications: He/She will be a California Licensed Occupational Therapist, Music Therapist, Art Therapist, Dance Therapist, Or Recreation Therapist. He/ She shall have 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program with in the past 5 years , 1 year of which was full-time in client activities and programs in a mental health setting.
Duties: The Activity Director as California Psychiatric Transitions will be designated by the Program Director. He/She will be under the supervision of the Program Director. He/She will be responsible for development and implementation of an activity program. He/She will coordinate the activity schedule with other client services. He/She will post the activity schedule in visible print, for the information of clients and staff. He/she will maintain age appropriate equipment and supplies in sufficient quantity. He/she will develop and maintain contacts with the community agencies and organizations. He/she will maintain progress notes specific to the leisure and activity needs of the clients, at least quarterly, and more frequently as needed. The Activities Coordinator maintains an up-to-date record of the type and frequency of activities provided and the names of the residents participating in each activity. If California Psychiatric Transitions chooses to or has a need for He/She may be asked to recruit, train and supervise a volunteer program to assist with and augment services of the activity program. Due to the unpredictable nature of the psychiatric profession employees are to engage in crisis prevention procedures for the safety, health and welfare of the residents and staff. In addition to specific job duties, due to the nature of the psychiatric field, at times, you will be expected to; stand for long periods of time, bend, kneel, lift, carry and walk swiftly or run. During employment, interdepartmental duties may be assigned by supervisors or be requested by employees. Upon administrative approval, and based on operational need, these requests may be granted. Administrative approval is defined as; Facility Director, Department Heads and/or Supervisors.
