POSITION SUMMARY:
The RF Engineer performs engineering work in applied research, design, development, testing, manufacturing, and documentation of RF products or systems. In this role, you will work with customers to understand their equipment/system requirements and ensure that Advanced Energy's products work effectively in their applications. Utilization of research techniques to analyze and validate design or theory concepts is a key part of this role. The RF Engineer provides direction and leadership to more junior engineers and engineering technicians related to program-specific work, and interacts with senior level professionals both internal and external to Advanced Energy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the design and analysis of RF systems, products, and subsystems/circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals.
  • Responsible to diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, reliability, and test yields of products and recommend/implement corrective actions to address.
  • Responsible for many aspects of programs or projects and the corresponding administrative documentation and paperwork.
  • Assumes responsibility for the success of the product/system in the customers' applications and recommend/implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Follows key engineering procedures including the Product Development Process and ECO process.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A working knowledge of key RF test equipment such as network analyzers, couplers, calibration kits, etc. and high-power experience are valued
  • A working knowledge of key software such as Matlab, Solidworks, and ANSYS products like designer and Icepak are valued
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for determining appropriate action and obtaining solutions
  • Proven professional skills as an experienced engineer with a full understanding of industry practices, analytical methods, computer-aided analysis and design tools, diagnostic instruments and test equipment, lab skills appropriate to design work, and selecting appropriate components and materials for designs
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems independently with minimal assistance
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior-level team members
  • Experience with influencing and negotiating in complex situations

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of five years of engineering experience

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Science or similar field
  • Master’s degree preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • This position is located in the Milpitas, CA office.
  • Mix of a standard office environment utilizing standard office equipment, a noisy fast-paced lab, and/or clean room 90% of the time.
  • Must be able to travel approximately 10% of the time. Travel may involve both international and domestic travel to remote sites, customers, and vendors.
