Position Purpose:With 10 locations across the country, our network of Distribution Centers keep all of our online stores and retail locations stocked with all the best products for our customers’ pets. We are seeking a Distribution Center Department Manager for 2nd shift for our Mira Loma, CA location. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of warehouse operations, while leading a team of distribution center associates in proficiently and effectively executing shipping/receiving responsibilities. You will be an integral part of our supply chain operation, ensuring all DC operations run smoothly so we can make sure merchandise is being received, processed, stored, packed and shipped correctly to help us accomplish our goal to get the right products to the right stores right the first time. Additionally, you will utilize your leadership skills to create and promote an environment where associates are engaged, empowered and committed to the success of the company.Essential Job Functions: Through previous background and experience, the candidate must demonstrate, with or without an accommodation, the ability to:Provide leadership and guidance to all staff for continual improvement of key functions

Ensure operational productivity levels are set, maintained and continuously improved to ensure accuracy and efficiency

Manage the financial performance of the assigned department(s), to include monitoring appropriate staffing levels, reducing damages and controlling supply costs

Enforce and support an effective Safety program that complies with all OSHA, federal and state policies that optimize safety within the facility

Collaborate across departments to guarantee the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers

Take an active role in DC improvement projects and change management processes

Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with an emphasis on the Company’s interests.

Analyze data daily, weekly and monthly to plan and prioritize action steps, set timelines and identify/allocate resources to reach department goals

Supervisory Responsibility:The nature of this position entails supervising one or more work units in the Distribution Center, to include ongoing training and assignment delegation. The Distribution Center Supervisor is also responsible for taking an active part in all aspects of an associate’s career with Petco, including but not limited to, selection, training, development, discipline and performance evaluations.Work Environment:While some job duties are performed while seated indoors, the majority of the time is spent in the Distribution Center, where exposure to heat, cold, dirt, dust, fumes and noise should not be overlooked. Move merchandise up to 50 pounds.Education/Experience:High school diploma or its equivalent (GED); Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Must demonstrate a strong working knowledge of basic Distribution Center management principles, including scheduling, accounting relationships and inventory control policies.

Computer and warehouse management software to log, track and report data.

Must be flexible with shift hours and some weekend work.
