Job Description

Seeking an Engineering Manager to manage one of the new programsincluding the new space vehicle build, technology development and testing programs, andterrestrial testbed flights

Keys

  • Coordinating with leadership team on staffing allocation and resources
  • Being a technical contributor to challenging engineering problems
  • Providing engineering expertise and leadership
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to the technical team

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate resources across the technical team to ensure projects meet internal and external deadlines as well as stay on budget
  • Perform one-on-one meetings with direct reports
  • Assist with management of schedule, projects, and resources using Smartsheets
  • Work closely with the CTO, Chief Engineer, and second Engineering Manager to meet program goals
  • Assist with and contribute to project planning, proposals, and scoping business opportunities
  • Must be able to adapt and thrive in a dynamic highly technical environment
  • Will have a large impact on many programs, especially the lunar mission

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Experience leading a technical team in aerospace, ideally spacecraft but not required.
  • Innovative and open to helping create a Cislunar economy -

    passionate about space
  • Understands what is needed for high-quality spaceflight systems - and also what is not needed.
  • Experience with the complete lifecycle of spacecraft development: design, build, test, and fly.
  • 15+ years experience in aerospace engineering
  • Experience with startups or new space companies
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field

Qualifications

  • Fast feedback cycles, gets to the point and doesn’t delay on pointing out concerns
  • Detail oriented, able to track schedules across multiple programs
  • Calm, cool, and collected when things go wrong. Work the solution not the problem.
  • Be a mentor to the team and provide guidance on troubleshooting
  • Has made mistakes in the past and learned from them, so we don’t have to make them ourselves.
  • Is able to work in a highly dynamic environment, and shift resources quickly to cover unexpected gaps, or keep people busy while waiting on delays
  • Strong documentation ethos

Professional Requirements

Due to U.S. State Department restrictions on access to space technology, candidates must be "U.S. Persons" as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) 22 CFR 120-130. In general, this means candidates shall be US Citizens (dual nationality is okay in most cases), Permanent Residents (current, valid green card) or other "protected" category.
