Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design structural components to meet requirements including expected loads and sufficient factors of safety
  • Work with every other subsystem to ensure systems-level thinking in the design
  • Conduct static and dynamic analyses appropriate to the design maturity
  • Provide technical leadership to a small team of engineers
  • Assist in developing structural tests, conducting the tests, and reviewing test data
  • Provide analysis and test data to other team members
  • Develop fabrication procedures and instructions working with the integration team
  • Provide technical guidance to fabricators and other technicians

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of materials, joints, bonding and how these choices affect the spacecraft mission regarding thermal loads, margin and resiliency, off gassing, and more
  • Experience with FEA tools, particularly coupled loads, dynamics, vibration, acoustics, and transient loads
  • Experience in the life cycle of

    spacecraftdevelopment: design, build, and test
  • 5+ years experience in aerospace engineering
  • 3+ years in structures design and/or test for

    spacecraft
  • Experience with startups or new space companies
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Strong work ethic and intrinsic motivation
  • Hands-on fabrication experience
  • Must be able to adapt and thrive in a dynamic highly technical environment
  • Will have a large impact on many programs, especially the lunar mission

Professional Requirements

Due to U.S. State Department restrictions on access to space technology, candidates must be "U.S. Persons" as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) 22 CFR 120-130. In general, this means candidates shall be US Citizens (dual nationality is okay in most cases), Permanent Residents (current, valid green card) or other "protected" category.
