The main functions served by the department include internal utility management, energy efficiency projects, and reporting on campus energy use.JOB SUMMARYUnder supervision of the Energy Manager, the Energy Analyst provides support to the Energy Department and the campus in the areas of Energy Efficiency and Customer Service. This position provides oversight of energy data acquisition, as well error detection and data quality processing. This position supports Energy Department processes related to Energy Efficiency, Sustainability, and Financial tracking of energy usage. This involves the coordination and integration of data collected manually, from our student meter reading team, as well as the exporting of energy data from the various campus monitoring systems. Analysis and review of this data for accuracy and completeness. Energy Analyst then generates various reports used by our Sustainability, Energy, and Facilities staff for tracking financial and sustainability metrics.25% - ReportingThe Energy Analyst generates reports and presentations for a) Greenhouse Gas Reporting, b) UC Systemwide Energy and Greenhouse Gas reporting. Any additional reporting that is required by the campus, to support campus sustainability and energy efficiency efforts.15% - Customer Support The Energy Analyst works with various campus staff and outside groups to provide, troubleshoot, and communicate information related to energy usage, energy costs, and sustainability efforts.A key aspect in this customer service role is communication and clear/concise resolution of issues, with an emphasis on positive customer experience. 10% - Trains, mentors and coordinates a student employee, whose role is to support the Energy Analyst in their project tasks.QUALIFICATIONSRequired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. General knowledge of data analysis using spreadsheets, database reporting software, and logical methods and processes. Works independently, and effectively sets priorities and tasks based on direction given to them by management. Shows initiative, and has the ability to creatively solve problems without direct supervision. Strong attention to detail, and methodical in their approach to problem solving. Experience generating graphs, tables, and charts using common software tools (Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, Crystal Reports or any related). Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, fosters a creative and collaborative work environment. Experience working in small groups to complete projects on time and with minimal supervision. Knowledge of, and comfortability with mathematical expressions and engineering units. Ability to complete deliverables that are accurate, thorough, and easily understood. Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility. Ability to manipulate data with accuracy and proficiency. Demonstrated ability to write clear and concise reports. Ability to implement a customer service approach, with a commitment to high ethical standards. Ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with a diverse group of individuals.
